I was very excited to work on this project. I love doing arts and crafts, so making a paper doll was something right up my alley. These were such a blast to make, even if the technical stuff like building the base and figuring out proper technique to use the laser cutter was a slight hassle.
I started out this design with a base I found on google. However, it was kind of lackluster and not precise, so I used it as inspiration and built my own templates for these dolls. It took much longer, but at least then I could do all the extra details I wanted and have decently precise measurements to do so.
I wish I had taken some kind of video of the laser cutter in action (the sparks were really cool to see) but I was not sure if that was allowed at the time. However, I do have pictures of the pieces in a pile and the cut outs of the paper. A piece did fly away during the cutting process, but it was just an accessory and not a super important piece. Also, that served a learning experience to tape down my pieces as the machine cuts them. The small circles were meant to make a swivel mechanic for the head, but I did not have much luck with that, so the heads stay still.
Below are more photos of the dolls both together and individually. I wanted them to both be unique in their own ways, so some things are placed differently depending on the doll while I was exploring assembly.
