For my collage, I decided to assemble art pieces/media that reflect my interests and what I would like to create. For example, I'm a huge fan of Japanese art/animation, whether it's cute and wholesome or morbid and graphic, so I selected relevant images to show said interest. I also picked out fantasy, steampunk, and cyberpunk art/media, as they are three of my favorite genres. I am currently familiar with the studio processes of printmaking and ceramics, as well as the programs of Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Animate. The digital process of 3D printing is very intriguing to me, as I've only heard of other students doing it and have never tried it myself. Issues that have captured my attention and that I want to touch on in my work include systemic oppression, the preservation of nature and rebellion against the status quo. Recurring motifs that often show up in my work are blue/red color schemes, woodlands/woodland creatures, and dragons.
Biostatement:
My name is Clarke Hill and I am a ASU junior studying for a BFA in animation. While my studies mainly focus on said major, I do have some experience with web design from a previous Digital Media class and years of graphic design knowledge from high school. I have also studied and practiced traditional art for most of my life, including painting, ceramics, printmaking, and inking.
The programs I am proficient in currently are Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Animate, Premiere Pro, and InDesign. I am hoping to become more proficient in 3D animation programs like Blender and Maya, as well as general web design. I also hope to learn how to create art in new mediums while finding ways to combine it with traditional modes I am already familiar with.
