The Vancouver Fo Guang Shan Three Acts of Goodness (TAG) Kids Class held its fall semester opening ceremony on September 15, welcoming both new and returning students with joy! A total of 40 attendees joined, which included the young Bodhisattvas, their parents, and the young teachers from Vancouver Young Adult Division (YAD).
During the ceremony, Kids Class Advising Venerable Venerable You Yin emphasized that the term “Bodhisattva” encompasses the meaning of benefiting oneself and others. By referring to everyone as “little Bodhisattvas,” it encourages students to practice the “Three Acts of Goodness” in their daily lives—doing good deeds, speaking good words, and having good thoughts—actively embodying the spirit of a Bodhisattva.
After the ceremony, the YAD teachers led the new students in a treasure hunt, searching for treasures such as the Seven Tathagatas, Buddha's Light Verse, and collections of Master Hsing Yun’s teachings. This activity helped them become more familiar with key locations like the Main Shrine, the Dining Hall, and the library. Meanwhile, returning students participated in icebreaker games organized by their teachers to help the little Bodhisattvas get to know each other better.

At the same time, President of Vancouver YAD Kelly Chong led a parents’ meeting, discussing this semester's class schedule, upcoming activities at the temple, and exploring ways to provide a better learning environment and curriculum for the little Bodhisattvas.
After lunch, the young Bodhisattvas participated in a running meditation, which trained their demeanor and promoted digestion and health. Finally, under the guidance of early childhood educator Teacher Mindy, the little Bodhisattvas learned about the Chinese cultural celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, which also marks the birthday of the Moonlight Bodhisattva. They completed the draft for a lantern painting based on Master Hsing Yun’s 2025 New Year greeting: “Keep going, Hope Is Within Reach.” The first class of the semester concluded with laughter and joy.
