On October 13, 2024, Buddhist Light International Association Youth Adult Division (BLIA-YAD) Vancouver proudly organized a Bake Sale Fundraiser. This was an event aimed to raise funds to support members of the youth group to attend the 2024 North American Buddha’s Light Young Adult Fellowship Meeting taking place in Los Angeles, California.
In preparation for this event, YAD members demonstrated their impressive baking talents. Within 24 hours, they produced a variety of delicious bakery goods, including Banana Bread, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Blueberry Muffins, Oreo and savoury Scones, Salted Butter Bread, Popcorn, and Japanese Cheesecakes, ensuring all items were fresh and of the highest quality. In addition, guests were served a selection of beverages on-site, including coffee, hot cocoa, and Hong Kong-style milk Tea.
The bake sale fundraiser proved to be a great success, receiving over 70 orders thanks to all the BLIA family supporters and the dedication of all the YAD members. Vancouver YAD kept in mind the teachings from Venerable Master Hsing Yun: 'Young people are the hope of society. As long as one is willing to give with a sincere heart and work hard, one can create infinite possibilities.' These encouraging words motivated the members to give their best efforts throughout the event.
Furthermore, the event was boosted by generous donations from several patrons within the Vancouver International Buddhist Progress Society. Through this enriching experience, YAD members practiced the essential skills of teamwork, hospitality, marketing, and baking. This event not only fostered a spirit of collective creativity within the Young Adult Division, but also highlighted the values of Co-existence and Co-prosperity.
