Elections-2020

2020 PTFA Election Decided by Acclamation

The Elections Committee has determined that candidates for PTFA Policy Board have been elected by acclamation.

We are able to take this action because all eleven positions were uncontested. The action was suggested and approved by the California Federation of Teachers (CFT) and supported by a vote of the current Policy Board. The new Policy Board takes office on June 1st as provided by our Constitution and By-laws.

We trust that members of the new Policy Board will build on the excellent work of previous boards to bring about new improvements in the lives of our members.

Please join us in congratulating the new 2020 USF-PTFA Policy Board:

Nominations for PTFA President Are Extended

From the PTFA Elections Committee 3/30/2020:

Dear Colleagues,

An issue has come to our attention in the election process for Policy Board positions.

During the nomination process for Policy Board elections, the Elections Committee checked all nominees for basic qualifications and sent initial confirmation of eligibility. The vetting process then continued. Unfortunately, one nominee did not meet the membership requirements as stated in the PTFA Constitution and By-Laws.

After consultation with our parent Union, the California Federation of Teachers (CFT), the Elections Committee has extended until 5:00pm on Monday, April 6, email nominations for that position only: the office of President of the USF-PTFA.

  • You may nominate yourself or another eligible USF-PTFA member to the office of President.

    • Candidates must have completed at least two semesters of teaching at USF before running for election.

    • Candidates must be current members of the PTFA as detailed in the PTFA Constitution and By-Laws, section III: Membership.

  • Nominations for President may only be made via email. They should be emailed to elections@usfptfa.org. Please include:

    • the candidate’s name and email address and

    • if known, the two most recent completed semesters the candidate taught at USF (e.g., Spring & Fall, 2019).

    • Email nominations for President close on Monday, April 6 at 5pm.

  • Voting will take place online from Tuesday, April 28 at 12:01am through Friday, May 1 at 11:59pm.

  • Updated details are available here, on the Elections pages of the USFPTFA.ORG website.

The Elections Committee appreciates your understanding and patience as we all work through the extraordinary pressures surrounding the Covid-19 crisis.
