PTFA UNEMPLOYMENT GUIDE (updated May 15, 2020 by Secretary Rebecca Seeman).
Questions: secretary [at] usfptfa [dot]org
If you aren't employed after spring or fall semester you may be eligible to file for unemployment.
PLEASE NOTE: The union and university have agreed on the last day of employment for filing purposes:
-Spring semester: the last day of EXAMS
-Fall semester: the last day of CLASSES
These application dates are a compromise agreement with the University. The administration has experienced difficulties with the many different dates that unemployment applicants used. The University proposed setting the last day of employment as either the last day to submit grades or the commencement dates of each semester. This would have made unemployment benefits unavailable for one to three weeks longer. Hence, the above compromise.
The union will send a reminder about filing for unemployment at the end of each semester.
We recommend that you carefully read this May 2020 PTFA document about unemployment before applying. This document is also attached below. We recommend you also read the EDD Resource Guide 2019 posted below. Should you have any questions about filing, please contact the secretary -- Secretary [at] usffapt.org (note: this position is filled by Rebecca Seeman through May 31, 2020, and will then be assumed by Mark Taylor).
