Two score strangers, drawn by curious dreams and the call to power, found ancient ruins and a strange tome. Guided by enigmatic beings of paper and words they began to realise their potential as Awakened.
New Lores and magic was added to the Unfinished Tome as those who felt the call contested with bandits and beasts, struck bargains with barrow wights from ancient times and assaulted a city of the dead to quell its potential to threaten the Known Lands. Some Awakened learned to speak the language of trees, others began to explore a house shaped from dreams and yet others learned of the ancient rites of hearth and home to raise a Hearth Stone in the place they had gathered.
Two of the most interesting things discovered were the Akashic Spires and Arynian Gate. The former, a powerful device that periodically allows great understanding on the nature of magic to be gleaned and new Lore learned. The latter, a gate that allows travel to far distant places by simply stepping through the threshold.
Though much was achieved and learned for each answer another question was put forth. Who were the mysterious forebears who prepared this place? What are the people in the stars? Who should be trusted, the words of Kakeris or the rustling of the trees?
More ominous dread warnings are spreading. Though a blow was struck and one of the four undead warlords of Soldia slain, three more still rail against the fraying boundaries that contain the dead. Though bandits were put to flight, the plans of their master, a golden dragon, are now coming to fruition. Its claw reaches now towards the town of Aligona to surround it in smoke and flame.
These are fine beginnings for the Awakened, but beginnings alone do not make a story.
