Registered Students will earn their way to compete in three rounds of cutting challenges. Challenges my be timed, or for accuracy and/or both. After each round only the top scores will advance to the next rounds challenge.
IMPORTANT: Each individual needs bring their own their own PPE this includes, clear/dark face shield, safety glasses and gloves that are to be worn at all times while in the cutting area.
More details will be published about this event as the date gets closer... so stay tuned!
*All Students that register for a welding certification level are automatically entered for compete in the Cutting Contest Challenge.
Students with the best under water weld passes will have the opportunity to earn a Dive Coin that will qualify them for the Underwater Welding and Diving State Event this summer at The Ocean Corp in Houston.
At the State event students will compete for TOC Scholarships and prizes as well as the opportunity to earn an AWS D3.6 Welding Certification.
Students will have a unique opportunity to evaluate weld defects and discontinuities. There will be eight timed rotations and students will use a scantron to answer the question, is this weld acceptable or reject-able.
