The TXHSWS wants everyone to stay safe and healthy as they grow in skills and knowledge. Our events have special protocols in place that meet/exceed the State and Local requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

All Welding Levels will allow chipping hammers and wire brushes. In addition to that, Levels 1 & 2 will allow battery powered grinders with wire wheels. Levels 3 & 4 will allow grinders with wire wheels and grinding disks for light grinding needs.
Downhill Brother-in-Law Welding
2 Representatives per School on 10" SCH 40 Pipe!!
Event Information: Students will represent their school individually in this head to head Brother in Law event.
Each school will select their best students to go head to head with a randomly selected student from another school. Both competitors will run a Fill and Cap on a pre grooved 10 in Sch 40 pipe. Each weld will be evaluated by an instructor at Mainliners Welding Academy, the best welds will advance their welder to the next head to head competition!
Material: - 10" Sch 40 pipe
Electrode: - 5/32 E8010 - Arc 80 5/32
Progression: Vertical Downhill

Scholarships Awarded:
For each Level 1 -4:
1st Place – $3,000 Scholarship
2nd Place – $2,000 Scholarship
3rd Place – $1,500 Scholarship
4th Place – $1,000 Scholarship
5th Place – $500 Scholarship
For Brother-In-Law:
1st Place – $6,000 ($3,000 Scholarship Each)
2nd Place – $5,000 ($2,500 Scholarship Each)
3rd Place – $4,000 ($2,000 Scholarship Each)
4th Place – $2,000 ($1,000 Scholarship Each)
5th Place – $1,000 ($500 Scholarship Each)
Free T-shirts given to all student who participate in any of the welding challenge.
Total of $ 50,000 in Scholarships Awarded!
Laser engraved cups for all 1st place winners in Levels 1-4
Laser engraved cups for 1st place in brother-in-law welding (one for each student on the team)
