Butt and Branch Build
Team Build: teams will need to supply their 12” sch 20 material. Each team will be able to have 3 people and we will be giving you 4 hours to weld the butt and branch. The $100 for the team build does cover the individual persons entry fee for the Level 1-3 also. Depending on the amount of teams, team build off will be first and then they will do their individual weld. This of course depends on the amount of teams and equipment. We do not have times assigned as of yet. We will not be able to start planning times until we receive entry forms
Judging and Scoring the Build Off:
Butt Weld: 2 pieces of 12” SCH 20 (0.250”) at 6” each. The bevel on the two butt pipe pieces can be beveled before competition. Welding position for the butt weld will be horizontal fix. This will be welded with E6010 and E7018 downhill.
Branch Weld: 12” SCH 20 (0.250”) 24” piece and 9” piece for the branch weld. The contestants shall layout, cut, fit, and weld the branch connection. A hole with specified diameter equal to the inside diameter of the branch pipe shall be cut in the run. The branch welding position is overhead fixed and will use E6010 and E7018. The contestants are allowed to bring a template for the saddle if they would like. The contestants must remember that this is timed. They are allowed to use grinders, torch, and other hand tools needed to clean and prepare their material.
For this event, there will be hold points that are listed on the score sheet. These are a requirement when it comes to judging. If they fail to show the judge hold points, they will not receive points.
