Booking Flights

Important Instructions:

• Students should NOT book any personal travel plans for during the semester until after they have arrived in Rome and confirmed the dates of course trips, which will take place on dedicated course trip weekends during the semester. You will receive this information during orientation upon arrival.

• Trinity College does not arrange flights for students so you must book your own roundtrip flights to/from your program destination. For visa and entry purposes, students must book a round trip ticket. Students are encouraged to get to know each other and share travel information with each other. 

• Students will fly into Rome Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO). 

• Student should book a flight which allows them to arrive at Rome/FCO by 12:00pm on the day of arrival. 

• Most flights from the US are overnight. Make sure your flight is arriving on the start date of the program. 

• Students must be moved out of housing by 12:00pm on the last day of the program and should schedule their departure flight accordingly. 

• Students are required to arrive on the first day of the program and depart on the final day of the program.

• Approval for alternate plans must be requested from the Rome Advisor in the Office of Study Away.

• Students wishing to arrive early or stay on after the program end date are responsible for their own lodging, food and transport.

• When booking your flights, consider booking a flexible return ticket so you can change your return date if needed. This will be helpful if you want to travel after the end of your program.

• You may need to purchase a round trip ticket for your consulate appointment. Please check with your local Italian Consulate for more information.

Program Arrival & Departure Policy

Students are expected to arrange their schedules in order to be present for the program orientation and the first and last day of class. Program start and end dates fluctuate from year to year, so please refer to the program dates as published in this COMPASS and on the Trinity College website. Exceptions to this policy will be made on a case by case appeal basis and may only be considered if schedule conflicts relate to extraordinary personal circumstances (i.e. serious illness or death in family) or mandatory school-related commitments (i.e. student research presentations, high-level athletic competitions, etc.). In order to be considered, appeals must be accompanied by official documentation of extraordinary circumstance.
