This is an introduction to Digital Photography course designed for students who wish to explore both the practical and aesthetic ideas and practices related to photography. The technical and expressive characteristics of photography will be equally emphasized throughout the semester. The class will meet once a week at the convent at 9 on Thursdays. Classes will be conducted in museums, churches, markets and other sites of interest. Students will be on assignment each week to go and photograph a specific place for homework. Students will make a selection of 15-20 images that they wish to share with the class each week. Sometimes the images will be projected or simply viewed on laptops. The class ends on site at 12:30.

Bologna and Turin
Bologna and Turin
Students of this course have the opportunity to explore the city of Bologna and Turin. In Bologna they go to the “Cineteca di Bologna” where they visit their video library, archives and film restoration labs, and then they meet the organiser of the “Cinema Ritrovato” summer festival who will explain in detail how the festival works and why it is so successful.
In Turin they visit the Museo Nazionale del Cinema and do an elevator trip to the panoramic terrace of the Mole Antonelliana to conclude the visit. Moreover, they do an intercultural tour of the Porta Palazzo Market and surrounding urban area with migrant guide from Migrantour.
