If you try to log on and see an error message about your account being blocked, it's most likely due to a VPN. We understand that a lot people use VPNs for their own security, but for now, it is still against our Terms of Service to use one. Our system will automatically block an account if it detects a VPN/proxy. If that happens, just reach out to us at authors@textbroker.com, and we'll happily unblock your account for you.
The other reason you might be seeing that message is due to an attempted login from outside the U.S. Our system automatically blocks this as well. You are allowed to write while you're abroad, but you'll need to send us a selfie of you with your passport and a picture of your passport close up with a signed piece of paper with the date next to it.
To get your profile to 100%, you'll need to fill out every section, including the Travel section of your page. You'll need to choose a handful of travel locations (you can pick some local sites near you if you don't travel a lot). Without the travel section, your profile might linger somewhere around 80% complete. Don't stress! This doesn't affect how people view your profile or your work.
Self-service clients: 96 hours (4 calendar days)
Managed clients: 5-7 business days
If this is a new project in the pilot phase, keep in mind that these orders can take longer to accept.
If you have questions about the acceptance times or want to check for any updates on a Managed Client order, please reach out to the PM in charge of your project or managedclients@textbroker.com. You can find the PM's email at the bottom of the order briefing. For self-service client orders, feel free to reach out to us at authors@textbroker.com.
Our system won't allow you to upload images directly to the submission box. In order to add images to your order, you'll need to provide them as a hyperlink to the client. You can do this by using the hyperlink tool on the toolbar (it looks like a set of linked chains) and inserting the URL to the image if it is already on the web, such as using an image from a source like Pixabay.
If you have taken screenshots that you need to provide, you can upload them to a free anonymous image hosting service, such as Imgur or to a Google doc with the permissions set to “view only” for whoever has the link (don't forget to have the comments turned off). You can then provide a link to the images the same way as above.
Authors can only accept one OpenOrder and one TeamOrder at a time. Once you submit your current assignment, you may select another order to complete.
In the case of DirectOrders, you may accept as many as you would like, and you may still take one OpenOrder and one TeamOrder in addition to your DirectOrders. Please be mindful of the deadlines on all orders.
Our rating times for signups vary depending on how many we're getting each day and our current workload. Right now, we keep getting large influxes of signups, so we don't want to guarantee anything quicker than 5-7 business days. However, if you've gone much longer than the expected time period without receiving an email, please reach out to us at authors@textbroker.com.
Orders are chosen for rating by an automated algorithm that factors in how often an author writes, recent rating demotions and promotions, the date of your last rating, etc. The more you write, the quicker you'll be put in our queue to be rated.
However, we have no control over who gets put into the queue or when it happens. Ideally, we'd like our active authors to be rated at least once every month, but we do have thousands of them to get through.
If it's been more than a month since your last rating and you're eager to get some feedback, email us at authors@textbroker.com, and we'll see what we can do!
To accept or decline a client’s team invitation
Go to Assignments > TeamOrders
Scroll down to Open Team Invitations
From there, you can choose to apply to the team if you're interested.
There are some teams that you can apply to on your own! Follow these steps:
On your Homepage, go to Assignments > Team Orders
Take a look at the list of teams on your home page. If there's an orange star next to the team name, it's a managed team.
The forums are a place for authors to discuss common issues regarding writing, offer tips and suggestions, ask questions and have friendly, constructive conversations. You can find the forums in your author account on the homepage.
While we encourage constructive criticism, please keep in civil. Personal attacks against our staff and company, other authors and clients are not permitted and may result in action including removal of access to the forums or closure of your author account.
Clients do not have access to the author forums.
You can find an explanation about DAS here.
This message is a bit of a bug in our system. Basically, it's detecting that you currently have a team order, so you're not allowed to pick up another. If you've just submitted an order, the system might take a second to detect that you no longer have it. Give it a bit of time before trying to pick up another order.
If you're having trouble submitting your DAS order and you're not sure why, you can reach out to your PM or to us at authors@textbroker.com. We'll happily look into it for you.
