Whether you are just starting at Textbroker or have received a new order type you’ve never seen after years of working for us, understanding the three types of orders you might get will make your time here at Textbroker easier.
Open Orders (OO): These are the most basic order and probably the order you are most familiar with. These orders will appear on the Open Order page and are visible to all authors; anyone can write and grab these as long as they meet the star requirement. The orders will vary in how long they are, what they cover, and how simple their instructions are. To find Open Orders, go to “Assignments” and click “Show Orders.” At the bottom, you will see how many orders are available and at what star level.
From here, you can browse and grab any order that you’d like by clicking on the total under what star levels you have access to.
Once you select a star level, you can see the title of the order, the minimum star level, the deadline, how long the order is, and the expected pay. In terms of how much you will make off an Open Order, your pay is based on your star level. As a 3-star, you will earn 1.1 cents per word; as a 4-star, you will earn 1.6 cents per word; and as a 5-star, you will earn 5.5 cents per word.
Team Orders (TO): These are common orders you might see when writing for Textbroker. Team Orders are not available to every author and are behind what we call a team. Teams are groups that clients make with a dedicated subject and author pool. In addition to being behind a team, teams also require that authors meet certain requirements that are set by the clients, and these can range from maintaining a certain star level to having an understanding of subjects like HVAC and sneaker shopping. To find these, go to “Assignments” and click “TeamOrders,” and then you will be taken to the page where you can find your teams, view any applications for a team, and browse casting calls for teams looking to hire. Usually, these orders will all follow a similar subject and format with the biggest differences being what team they are from. Team orders have different pay rates per team, but there are general guidelines that can help you know what to expect. As a 3-star, there aren’t many teams at the 3-star level, but they do exist, and they pay no less than 2 cents per word and sometimes more. As a 4-star, this is the level where most teams are, and they average a pay rate of 3 cents per word with some up to 6 cents per word. For 5-star authors, there aren’t many teams exclusively at the 5-star level, but you are always welcome to join teams at the 3- and 4-star level; if you do join a 5-star team, the team will pay roughly the same as a 4-star.
Direct Orders (DO): Lastly, these orders might be the most unfamiliar to you because there isn’t really a way to look or find them since these orders are sent to authors straight from the client, hence the term Direct Order. For these orders, a client might spot an order from a team or open order that they feel was exceptional, and in some cases, this will result in being sent a DO! To view your direct orders, go to “Assignments” and click “DirectOrders.” Here will be any orders that a client has sent to you. Direct Orders' pay will vary based on what you and the client agree on; however, the price and order are between you and the client only. These orders, like Open Orders, can vary greatly in subject, instructions, and length since the client isn’t posting a series for a team or placing them into the open order pool for anyone to grab.
