How To Get Your Author Profile to 100% and Optimized for Orders

By the CQM Team
Welcome to Textbroker! We’re glad to have you on the team, and the first step you can take to make your time with us easier is filling out your profile. Filling out your profile will not only let you get familiar with the homepage you’ll be using but allows us to know you better. Once we have a better idea of what you’re into, what you like to write, and your expertise, it’ll be easier to find orders and teams to join.
You can also watch a video to see each step here.
General Info
To get started, log in to your account and click on the “Account” tab, and hit “Public Profile” to open up your profile. You will automatically start under the “General Info” tab.
Resume
This section gives us a better understanding of who you are and what you’ve done! Since this isn’t for an interview, the resume can be as detailed as you please and does not need a reference section. Regardless of what you choose to add, please follow the rules and keep all information within the guidelines, and do not include contact information.
Capacity
Using your mouse or arrow keys, you can adjust the number of orders you think you could handle in a week. This isn’t a set limit and can be changed later, but it allows us to better assign orders when we can see how much work you expect to do compared to what is assigned.
Picture
The next step to complete your profile is adding a profile picture. If you don’t want to add a photo of yourself, that’s ok so long as your picture is not copyrighted or against Textbroker’s rules. Adding a photo will let us and the clients put an image to the author ID/Nickname.
Abilities
Next to the “General Info” tab, there is the “Abilities” section. Click on that, and you can get started on the next section of your profile!
Education
Here, you can put your highest level of education. There is only room for one option, so please pick your highest completed level.
Industry Experience
This section is slightly different than your resume from earlier. Unlike before, this is asking you to list the generic industry you have experience in and not the actual company. For example, if you worked as a host for Chili’s, you could add the fitting title from the “Food Services/Hospitality” section. To get 100% on your profile, only one industry is needed, but there is room for up to five. We receive orders from all types of clients, and while you may not call yourself a former host, seeing an author who has experience in the field is still helpful if we ever need an article from someone who understands that world.
Type of Writing
Like the industries you’ll write for, there isn’t just one type of writing you’ll do either. From social media captions to research pieces, we have an array of orders to fill at any time. Filling this section out will allow us to know what type of writing you are most comfortable with. Furthermore, if we need to form a team for a client who needs hundreds of poems, finding authors with the “poetry” option will let us make and add to the team more quickly.
Writing Samples
This section has room for three samples and is shown by the “Available writing samples” counter at the top of the page. Please note that this is not how many samples are uploaded but how many are left, and please do not upload work that has already been submitted for an order. In the picture above, that author's account has one writing sample uploaded, so it reads “Available writing samples: 2.” Once they upload two more, it will read zero. By adding to this section, we get a better look at what your style is like, what writing you prefer, and how it reads. This quick look at your work is so we can asses if you’d be a good fit for a team or order without going into a rating.
Languages
Entering your native language adds to your profile percentage complete total. You are welcome to add additional languages as this shows clients that you are capable of filling orders in languages other than English. A second language will not increase your percentage of profile completion.
Interests
This section is very important! To achieve 100% on your profile, two interests will need to be added, but we highly recommend more. Not only will it flesh out your profile, but interests are one of the ways we find authors for teams and orders. Add whatever you are interested in and might want to write on. There is a range of interests, from arts and crafts to family law, and these are some of the first things we look for when trying to add authors to teams. If we have a client asking for 200 orders on fishing, the first thing we will look for is authors who have tagged themselves as people who enjoy fishing.
Travel
Adding 10 places will finish off your profile completion. You can add the following types of places:
Cities
Counties
States
Countries
National parks
Universities and colleges
We know it might be hard to find 10 places, but these examples will hopefully help you reach that total. Like interests, these locations can also help us get to know you as an author and assign you orders or add you to teams. After this, your profile will show 100% complete.
Author Nickname
While your account may show 100% complete, there is one last task you can do to make your account distinguished and better suited to be picked when we search for authors: Create a nickname. Back under general information, between the resume and pricing, you are given the option to create a nickname. Firstly, nicknames should not be your first and last names. Secondly, if you choose not to pick a nickname, you will be given the nickname “A-[author ID]” until one is chosen. Nicknames can be anything, like WritingGOAT or MovieLover, but should still be appropriate and follow Textbroker rules. Picking a nickname might seem small, but these unique names give us something to refer to when talking about the thousands of authors we have on our platform. It’s easier for us to say PaperWarrior as opposed to asking for A-1234567, so adding a nickname is another way we can get to know you as an author and find work that suits you.
