The feedback our editors provide is one of the most valuable tools we offer our authors. This feedback is given periodically and reflects why we gave you your most recent rating. This commentary contains resources, suggestions, grammar rules, and AP style rules. It can also warn you of a potential demotion or encourage you if our editors believe you’re close to advancing in star level.
Here at Textbroker, one of the most crucial objectives for our editing team is seeing our authors succeed. We want our authors to advance in star level and to write as many orders as they desire. However, we also need evidence that people are at the correct star level based on their writing. Therefore, if an author isn’t quite ready for a higher star level, we can’t advance them. So our feedback exists to help you get to the next star level with guided help and suggestions for any errors we find.
In order to use our feedback, you need to be able to find it. At the top of your author login page is a list of tabs. Hover over the one named “Assignments.” Underneath, a second menu bar should appear. On the far right side of the menu is an option that says “Statistics.” Click on that, and it will take you to your statistics page. On that page, the right side shows your current star level. And right under your star level, you can click “See details of rating.” You will find your feedback on the page that opens.
Components of Feedback
There are a few different components on this page that make up your feedback. The first thing this screen tells you is your rating in bold text. Under that is a drop down menu where you have the option to look at previous ratings. Next is a button that says “Show order.” Clicking on that will allow you to see the orders we evaluated during the selected relating. Normally, this will be one order, but depending on the content, length, and other factors, there may be up to three orders per rating. When you show the order, you’ll be able to see highlights. And finally, the “Textbroker Comment” box is at the very bottom.
Current Star Level
Each feature on this page has a purpose and can be used to improve your writing and potentially increase your star level on future orders. The first thing to note is your current star level. If it went down, looking at our feedback is crucial so that you can try to regain your star level. If it went up, you’ll want to note what you did differently this time to warrant a promotion. And finally, if it remained stagnant, it’s key to look at both what you do well and what you need to improve upon so that you don’t stay at the same star level forever.
Past Ratings
Looking at past ratings doesn’t need to be done every time you get feedback, but it can still help you improve your writing and star level. If your star level goes up, down, or has stayed at the same level for multiple ratings, you should look at previous ratings. Looking at your past ratings allows you to use past feedback to see what went wrong on an order if you're warned or demoted. Conversely, you can also see what went right this time if you got promoted or are close to one. If your star level is the same over long periods, see if you get the same feedback frequently. If you are, really practice on whatever errors are holding you back. This comparison over time can give you direction on how your writing has evolved so far and the direction it needs to head.
Highlighted Sections of Text
When looking at the order itself, you’ll see highlighted sections. If clicked on, the highlighted text features notes from our editors. These notes can have helpful links, grammar rules, and even examples on how you can improve for the future. This feature exists so that you can see where exactly you messed up and what you could have done differently. If the same error occurs frequently, you’ll want to note that error to look out for next time. If you seem to struggle more with an introduction or conclusion than body paragraphs, you should also note that. Additionally, you might want to save any resources we provide within the feedback.
Feedback Box
Finally is the feedback box. This box will include the summation of all the information we found and highlighted. Here, we may also include information about instruction compliance, filler, and additional resources. One crucial thing to look for in this box are warnings, encouragement, promotion information, and demotion information. This feedback can give you a good idea of where you’re standing. While your rating may not have changed, you could be close to either being demoted or promoted. In these cases, it's critical to take your feedback to heart and really focus on your future orders.
As you can see, our editor feedback is multi-faceted, with various ways to use it. Our goal with this feedback is to see our authors grow and improve over time. If a piece of feedback doesn’t make sense or you’re struggling to find additional resources, please feel free to reach out, and we will gladly assist you however we can.
