TESMUN 2023 concluded with a dazzling ceremony that celebrated and applauded the outstanding achievements of delegates following two days of passionate debates and collaborative efforts.
MCs Liza Stapit and Aarushi Karki extended a hearty welcome to a distinguished guests, which included Secretary-General Tejaswi Pant, Chief Guest Madam Sheetal Rana, special guest Niraj Bikram Rana, Prashant Rajak, MUN coordinator Govinda Gautam, and the participating delegates.
Aarushi Karkri conveyed her appreciation to the hardworking dais, stating, "Your enthusiasm, commitment, and diligence have played a crucial role in the success of TESMUN."
The ceremony took a reflective turn as Yashaswi Dahal , the chair of HRC, shared her experiences and insights gained during TESMUN. She reflected on the significance of the TESMUN and stated how special her journey had been.
”The best delegate goes to the mastermind of our committee ,delegate of china Bidhan Bhusal.” Vice-Chair Srishma Aryal announced with great zeal as the crowd burst into applause.
MCs Liza Sthapit and Aarushi Karki extended a warm welcome to the podium for Jeshika Kumal, Chair of UNEP, inviting her to share her insights and express her thoughts.
Jeshika praised all the delegates, stating, "You're all winners in my eyes," emphasizing unity and gratitude over competition.
The audience erupted in applause as moderator Diksha Rimal announced the delegate of Afghanistan, Riti Kandel, as the best delegate. Deenakar Kiran Khadka then awarded all notable delegates.
Prashuv Thapa, Chair of DISEC, shared his experience and heartfelt thoughts about the Model United Nations. "It was undeniably an emotional rollercoaster," he remarked, expressing his immense pride in the entire committee's achievements.
Vice-chair and moderator Saurav Lamsal and Smriti Bastakoti announced the best delegate award, which went to the delegate of the United Kingdom, Sadikshya Lohani, amid cheerful applause from the crowd. Kaibalya Lama, delegate of China, was recognized as the outstanding delegate for his exceptional performance.
Following the awards announcement, Simon Kandel, chair of ECOSOC, delivered an inspiring speech reflecting on her journey from being a delegate to a chair. She stated, "When I clicked the link for the TESMUN 2021 Zoom meeting, I found myself in LP2. Now, I am here, standing as the chair of ECOSOC," in an impactful manner.
Vice-Chair Anushriti Aryal and moderator Prasansa Budathoki took the stage with enthusiasm and announced the best delegate as Shuvangi Khatri, representing Ukraine, amidst cheers. They also awarded Jahnawi Ghimire, representing Brazil, and Bigyan Kharel, representing India, as outstanding delegates.
Chair of LP1, Peter Rajiv Kandel, took the stage, sharing his experiences as a delegate and a DIAS member. He stated, "All of this makes me realize just how important the way one's teaching affects the ones being taught," leading the crowd to also appreciate their teachers more deeply.
Following Peter's inspiring speech, the Vice Chair and Moderator of LP1 took the stage to honor the exceptional delegates and had conveyed their pride. The best delegate award was presented to the delegate of Sudan Kirati, Kabya Adhikari, while the outstanding delegate award was bestowed upon Gagan Kumar Thapa, represented by Aalekh K.C.
Shreya Kadayat, LP2 Chair, encouraged delegates to maintain their humility despite success. She stated , "Don't let success overshadow your modesty," emphasizing the importance of humility in the face of achievements.
Dipsana Rijal, the vice-Chair, and Pratigya Rimal, the moderator, graced the stage to honor the delegates as they expressed their pride in the delegates. The Best Delegate award was presented to Riva Mainali, representing Jwala Kumari. Meanwhile, the Outstanding Delegate awards were bestowed upon Sanskar Pokhrel, representing KP Sharma Oli, as well as Nayan Sharma, the delegate of Rajendra Prasad Lingden.
Amidst resounding applause, Prajwol Poudel, LP3 Chair, delivered an inspirational speech reflecting on his journey in the role. Brimming with pride, he remarked, "In the final session, they blossomed like flowers in full bloom," underscoring the delegates' dedication and participation.
As vice-chair and moderator , Prashis Nepal and Prashamsha Bhandari extended their heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated and actively participating delegates. The Best Delegate award was granted to Progress Dahal, who represented Puspa Kama Dahal, while the Outstanding Delegate presented to Eshan Sharma, representing Prithivi Subha Gurung.
Stepping up to the podium, MCs Prajita Pradhan and Yashasvi Vaidya lit up the event with their hosting. Prajita Pradhan exclaimed, "We're thrilled to be your MC from here. " while Yashasvi Vaidya added, "Let's make this event memorable."
As the ceremony continued, the press team shared their experiences. The Press Chief Editor Sulaxana Thapa, applauded the dedication and hard work of the reporters, cartoonists, and interview team, acknowledging their role in capturing the essence of the event.
"This year’s press team was ineffable, something I can’t describe in words ," Press Head remarked with gratitude.
Deputy Chief Editors Sampada Basnet, Tejasvi Bashyal, and Abhinav Aale honored the press team's unsung heroes with awards, including Apekchha Kuikel for Best Reporter, Krishna Shrestha as Best Cartoonist, and the Best Interview Team led by Hisi Tamang.
Logistics head Shubhona Khatri extended her heartfelt appreciation to her fellow team members for their unwavering support and dedicated efforts. She exclaimed, "Having the support of my teachers and other logistic members instantly boosted my confidence." The logistics team members were presented with certificates of appreciation.
IT head Rajiv Thapa left the audience in awe as he unveiled the website crafted by his IT team. He expressed profound gratitude to his fellow teammates, acknowledging their unwavering support and significant contributions that had paved the way for the digital success of TESMUN.
Deputy IT Head Sakar Nepal and Ayush Moktan declared, "The best typist is Yubin KC.” Similarly, the best camera person award was bestowed to Astha Malla Thakuri, and best IT member was presented to Sampanna Adhikari.
The dedicated heads and deputy heads of the press, IT, and logistics teams were awarded certificates of appreciation for their crucial contributions to TESMUN's success. The MCs praised the hard work of the Dias panel as they received their awards.
Secretary General Tejaswi Pant expressed gratitude for the participants' dedication to diplomacy, problem-solving, and collaboration. "TESMUN 2023 has left an indelible mark on all of us," the Secretary-General remarked.
In closing, MUN Coordinator Govinda Gautam thanked the Dias panel, the press, IT, and logistics teams for their contributions to TESMUN's success. He also cheered on delegates who didn't win awards, motivating them for their future endeavors.
As the curtains drew to a close on TESMUN 2023, it was evident that the event celebrated diplomacy and left a positive impact on these young diplomats for their future endeavors.
