"Everyone needs to be valued. Everyone has the potential to give something back."
-Princess Diana
A thing I've learned from my experiences, my ups and downs in life is to never doubt yourself. I think this fits well with the perspective I have for Model UN. After all, it only takes a flame to light a fire-may it is the faintest flame ever. What an honour to be the chair of these wonderful little flames. A pleasure, a truly euphoric feeling it is to welcome you to the TESMUN 2023. In a committee that discusses international economic and social policies and development efforts, it is hard to lay out your points, but delegates I have my expectations as high as it can be from you. And, I'm sure you'll exceed them all. I believe each and every delegate to be the best, the most hardworking. Acknowledging the fact that maybe all the procedures in the committee may not be bliss, I am so grateful for the efforts of my fellow dais members and the delegates. Believe in yourself as much as you can. Our future is up to us. Shine bright, blow them away.
The game is a foot, delegates!
"You may never know what results come from your actions, but if you do nothing, there will be no results."
–Mahatma Gandhi
I still remember my first MUN in the most vivid form. I was the most excited person on the committee. I was so scared yet so excited at the same time. Yet I still came out of it loving the art of speaking. MUN lets you give voice to the voiceless. MUN gives you the opportunity to represent the unrepresented. When you are on the committee, you are not yourself; you are there representing a cause, a problem, and a group of people that need to be heard. I, as your dais panel, am extremely excited to see you improve. To see you overcome your fear and to see your love for speaking grow. Like Galin Sheehy said "If we don't change, we don't grow; if we don't grow, we aren't really living". My dear delegates, you are discussing real-world conflicts, and I hope you realize how important you are. You are the future; you are our future, so act accordingly and realize your full potential. I will always be there to guide you.

This all may seem like a pain at first. MUN is meant to be seen as a beginner's course. One is either too excited or nervous to enter the hall of the Model United Nations. However, this will undoubtedly be indirectly proportional to the empty feeling after the end of the program. I know that these may not sound very convincing to the delegates, but that will usually be a common response from the best delegate, in our view. Yes, that's right. You all have the capability to become the best delegate, and let us become a proud Dias panel who've guided you all towards a successive path. To those who are confident and those who are yet to foster their skills, do not give up trusting yourself and always be the loudest voice. I am not ashamed to admit that I was also very passive in the past MUN program and that I will forever regret doing so. But that specific past experience was what made me realize that hesitating in the past doesn't mean that the future will be a depressing path either. I will try my best to sharpen my esteemed delegates' skills and promote your voice, guiding you through my experience, knowledge, and support. Thank you.
Good luck to the delegates!
