Tejaswi Panta(Secretary General)
TESMUN-2023 has truly been an incredible journey for me, serving as the Secretary General (SEC-GEN). From witnessing dynamic debates and high-spirited enthusiasm to moments of silence and passiveness, my role as the SECGEN has exposed me to a wide spectrum of experiences. My ultimate goal is to see the delegates energized and eager for the challenges of each new day. Model United Nations (MUN) provides an outstanding platform for showcasing one's talents and actively participating to gain invaluable experience for the future.
The famous quote, "It always seems impossible until it is done," resonates strongly with the MUN experience. Success only becomes tangible when one gives their utmost effort. It's in the tireless dedication and hard work behind the scenes that greatness is achieved. Observing delegates passionately debate and argue with each other has reinforced this lesson.
Seeing these delegates in action also stirs memories of my own time as a delegate representing Gokul Baskota in LP 1 and Afghanistan in the ECOSOC committee. The shift from virtual support, scrolling through online resources, and seeking friends' assistance in online group discussions to the lively environment of physical meetings and intense research discussions has been a notable change. However, what should remain constant is the delegates' unwavering interest and passion for the MUN experience.
For me, MUN represents an opportunity for self-expression and personal growth. It aligns with our school's motto of "Engage, Express, Excel. How we engage with others determines our ability to express ourselves confidently, ultimately leading to excellence. This is a lesson I've internalized thus far.
While the occasional disruptions caused by delegates can be frustrating, witnessing them follow procedures and engage in active debate fills me with nostalgia and pride. This MUN program will become one of the most cherished memories of my life.
"The power of words" is a force that should not be underestimated. Words have a strength that surpasses the mightiest of natural forces. The Model United Nations provides a platform to harness the power of words. Thus, the Excelsior School Model United Nations Programme is dedicated to strengthening us all, both individually and collectively.
As both a delegate and Secretary General, my perspectives have expanded significantly. I've learned the importance of respect—giving and receiving it. Within the committee, we are a family, and the delegates' ideas and our collective conclusions are our moral compass.
