10,000 North Koreans were allegedly killed in an oil drilling accident in the Arctic Ocean, forcing the US to halt drilling during an update on the crisis, which ignited discussion in the UNEP committee.
"It is quite suspicious that 10,000 North Koreans were on a ship going to the USA when North Korea doesn't even allow citizens to go out of the country", The delegate of Russia raised concerns against the delegate of North Korea, and the delegate of the UK also added points to support the delegate of the USA.
To defend the allegations, the delegate of North Korea stated that the reason for the travel of 10,000 North Koreans was for economic growth.
"The USA is a country that has been maintaining a good relationship with Russia, so why would Russia want to have a bad relationship with one of the most powerful countries in the world?", the delegate of Russia replied when defending itself against other countries.
The delegate of Pakistan teamed up with North Korea and clamored that Russia should be at fault because it had been clearly stated by the crisis that Russia was purposely releasing the oil.
"Not only the delegate of Russia and the delegate of North Korea are to blame but also the delegate of the USA because the willow project inflicted pain on the citizens of Russia", the delegate of China presented, supporting Russia.
Releasing oils into the ocean not only pollutes the ocean but also harms the marine ecosystem. The US being a country that is ranked sixth among countries exporting seafood, this rank would significantly drop, affecting many countries, including Russia, where seafood is a staple part of the diet.
"Wildlife in the Arctic has also been affected, as has biodiversity,, the delegate of Afghanistan stated. "The marine lifestyle of the country, Russia, would also be affected, so why would Russia take such a tormenting action?"
Russia has constantly released oil along the borders of the USA, severely affecting the coastline, which would hamper the health of citizens of Japan and Russia, where seafood is a major part of the diet.
"Why is the delegate of Japan talking about how the willow project was started to reduce oil scarcity when in the previous years there have been several oil spills in Alaska like the 11 million gallons of oil spills previously", the delegate of Ukraine stated with disappointment.
After much debate, the delegates of countries in UNEP agreed to move forward with the urge of the delegate of Pakistan and the apologies of Russia for the excruciating actions.
"The delegate of Russia would like to apologize to the delegate of the USA for committing an action that would harm the citizens of the delegate's country and the marine life near Alaska.", The delegate of Russia apologize with sincerity. "Russia would like to apologize to North Korea and Brazil for the inconvenience".
With the sincerity of the delegate of Russia and the hand of the delegate of Pakistan, the USA, the UK, and North Korea, the UNEP committee moved forward with their resolution. The delegates presented preventive measures for the oil spills that caused harm to the marine ecosystem. With the signatories presenting the resolution, peace was established in the committee.
