Farmers protested against the increased use of chemical fertilizers in Nepal due to reduced pay, urging the government to address food scarcity. September 11th, 2023.

“Most of the agricultural products are imported from India. The government should have been concerned about the topic from the beginning and must have taken steps towards stopping it.”; The delegate of Prithvi Subba Gurung affirmed.

The delegate of Juli Kumari Mahato, stated that most of the agriculture is done in the Madesh pradesh yet the delegate of CK Raut is not taking any steps to modernize the agriculture sector in his province and is not providing strong security to the borders of Nepal and India for importing the goods.

The delegate of KP Sharma Oli claimed,”The farmers are getting lazy day by day, and the use of chemical fertilizers is increasing accordingly.”

The fact that Nepal is an agricultural nation means that this problem poses a serious threat to Nepal's economy and general situation.

Another stressful update came from the crisis head, “These crops must be imported, which could have a detrimental effect on Nepal's already struggling economy. Additionally, due to insufficient imports, Nepal is experiencing both a food shortage and economic difficulties.”

The delegate of Jwala Kumari Shah inquired the delegates of the Nepali Congress about the delegate's vision for improving the following problem.The delegates of the government parties presented their views and ideas. 

The crisis head entered the committee with another update; “Nepal faces food scarcity and economic difficulties, with the government importing products from abroad and opposition investigating acidity causes. Both parties are taking separate actions.”

In order to tackle this issue, the government and the opposition parties reached an agreement and decided to work together.
