NIGHT OF THE IGUANA

LIZ FERRER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SOUTHERNMOST SITUATIONS PRESENTS la noche i.delicatissima, AN

ADAPTATION OF TENNESSEE WILLIAMS’ THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA

MIAMI, FL (May 3, 2013) – Southernmost Situations is proud to present la noche i.delicatissima, an adaptation of Tennessee Williams’ The Night of the Iguana. Directed by Liz Ferrer and Sebastian DuncanPortuondo, la noche i.delicatissima features a cast of local artists, dancers, and musicians, moving the play from its original 1940s Mexican setting to a dreamlike 1960s Cuba.

A multidisciplinary project, la noche i.delicatissima features video projections and music by local artists, along with a largescale immersive set. True to Southernmost Situations’ mission to produce work that questions and exaggerates traditional art structures, the play employs both classical and experimental theater techniques, utilizing multimedia lighting, sound, and movement to create a nearpsychedelic aesthetic. A reenvisioning of the Classic Greek Chorus supplements the actions of the main characters, adding to la noche i.delicatissima’s abstract explorations of psychology, existentialism, and the human search for place and purpose.

The performance of la noche i.delicatissima will take place at Swampspace located at 150 NE 42 St, Miami. Catch the show on the evenings of June 6, June 7, and June 9. Doors at 7:30 p.m. Showtime at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available fork purchase at southernmostsituations.eventbrite.com.

Born out of a spontaneous trip to Key West, Southernmost Situations is a Miamibased social catalyst and experimental collective that blurs the boundaries between contemporary art, performance, and the traditional curatorial model.

Southernmost Situations would like to thank Cannonball Art for their continued support of this project.Your HandPainted Ticket:

In addition to the performance, CSA patrons receive a limited series of watercolor tickets to Southernmost Situations’ presentation of la noche i. delicatissima. These tickets function both as unique art objects and access to reserved seats for opening night. CSA Patrons do not need to bring the handpainted ticket to the show. The ticket is meant to be framed in or out of its envelope.

The ticket acts as a record of exchange between collector and artist, accentuating the act of collecting as a community investment. This process embodies the idea of a close relationship between collectors and cultural producers in Miami, ultimately culminating in a shared experience. The stipend Southernmost Situations received as part of the CSA program was used to fund production of the play and for materials to create the tickets.
