EDUARDO MENENDEZ DE MIRANDA Born in Camaguey Cuba on June 14, 1932, where he attended elementary and high school. He earned a degree with honors in Architecture, at Catholic University in Washington D. C. And post – graduate studies at Centro Interamericano de Vivienda y Planeamiento = CINVA in Bogotá, Colombia and Instituto De Estudios Turísticos in Madrid, Spain.

Was married to Marisol Pla, Spaniard, (born-deceased) and has for adult children, Ramon a Psychiatrist in Paris, France, Pedro an Architect, Maria Gabriela a stage designer, and Jose a Television Producer all in Colombia. Five grandchildren Emilio, Miranda, Leandro, Helena and Thais.

During his professional life he worked for many years with the Organization of American States = OEA, with a specialty in low income dwelling developments throughout South America and with Metra Seis Economia in Spain. Participating in projects as an expert consultant in housing developments while keeping a private



EDUARDO MENENDEZ is a Cuban born architect living in Bogota, Colombia. For five decades he traveled and worked throughout South America, Europe and the Middle East. Eduardo is an authority on Pre-Colombian art history. Now retired he imbues paintings and sculptures with the vibrant colors of the Caribbean palette.


EDUARDO MENENDEZ DE MIRANDA is a painter, sculptor and architect living in Bogota Colombia. Menendez was born in Camagüey, Cuba on June 1932.


Through the years Menendez has maintained an artistic practice of painting and sculpture, writing, music and travel. These experiences resulted in a deep understanding of popular folkloric tradition and pre-Colombian history. With cumulative effects of this knowledge, Eduardo imbues his creations with vibrant color and precise design that manifest in delightful expressions of emotion. Of his extensive repertoire, two distinct forms emerge. First is painting with a traditional latin-american identity. Second is sculptural wall works and intricate jewelry that incorporate authentic pre-Colombian relics such as ceramics, bone, leather, cordage and precious metals. Framed in fine wood, metal and acrylics, these arrangements are suspended as ornate mobiles and ornamental jewelry.


Eduardo attended Catholic University in Washington D. C. earning a degree with honors in Architecture and completed post graduate studies at Centro Interamericano de Vivienda y Planeamiento (CINVA) in Bogotá as well as studies at the Instituto De Estudios Turísticos in Madrid, Spain. During his professional career he worked primarily with the Organization of American States (OEA) an NGO promoting solidarity among the Americas. Eduardo specialized in low income dwelling developments throughout South America and with Metra Seis Economia in Spain. He participated in projects as an expert consultant in housing developments while keeping a private practice in architecture.


Eduardo Menendez has exhibited extensively at universities, galleries and museums including:

Galeria Belarca – 101 Park House Hotel – Government House Valle del Cauca Cali - Colombian Center of New York – The Consulate of Colombia in Atlanta GA. His work is included in private collections in Colombia, Brazil, USA, Mexico and Spain.


His parents were Eduardo Menendez, a physician and mother Julia Miranda. His wife, Marisol Pla was a university librarian from Barcelona, Spain. Together the had four children now adults; Ramon a psychiatrist, Pedro an architect, Maria Gabriela a stage designer, and Jose a television producer. Five grandchildren; Emilio, Miranda, Leandro, Helena and Thais now carry the legacy of their accomplished and charming grandparents.
