Being a kind and helpful friend means always trying to make others feel good and safe. It means sharing, caring, and helping, while a bully does the opposite by hurting others with words or actions.
Let's always choose to be kind and helpful!
We would like to acknowledge the Jaara people, the traditional custodians of the land on which we are meeting today, we acknowledge ancestors and elders past, present and emerging and commit ourselves to work actively for reconciliation and justice.
A quiet moment to pause, breathe, and bring our hearts and minds into God’s presence, preparing ourselves to pray with focus, gratitude, and openness.
Let us take a moment to pause… to breathe… to be still.
As the deep, ancient sound of the didgeridoo surrounds us, we are reminded of the land we stand on, the First Peoples who have cared for it, and God’s presence that has always been here.
Breathe in God’s love… (pause) and breathe out any worries.
Breathe in God’s peace… (pause) and breathe out any distractions.
As we quiet our hearts, we open ourselves to God—who walks with us, speaks to us, and loves us completely.
Loving God, be with us now. Guide our hearts, our thoughts, and our words as we come together in prayer.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
A quiet moment to pause, listen, and open our hearts to God, allowing His presence to guide our thoughts, deepen our faith, and inspire us to live with love and kindness.
The Bible teaches us that love is very important. Jesus tells us to love one another, just as He loves us. This means being kind, patient, and caring to everyone—our friends, family, and even people we don’t know well. Love isn’t just about words; it’s about how we treat others every day.
As you read these verses, think about ways you can show love—maybe by sharing, helping, or using kind words. How can you make someone feel loved today?
Ephesians 4:32 – "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
Reflection Questions:
What does it mean to be kind and compassionate?
How does it feel when someone forgives you?
Can you think of a time when you forgave someone? How did it make you feel?
Why do you think Jesus wants us to forgive others?
John 13:34-35 – "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Reflection Questions:
How did Jesus show love to others?
What are some ways you can show love to your friends and family?
How do you feel when someone is kind and loving to you?
Why do you think Jesus said that people will know we follow Him if we love others?
1 John 4:7-8 – "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."
Reflection Questions:
Where does love come from?
How can we show God's love to others?
How do you feel when you show love to someone else?
What are some ways we can practice love every day?
A moment to open our hearts to God, whether in asking for guidance, strength, and help or in giving thanks for His blessings, love, and presence in our lives.

Routine: Transitions between Classrooms/Learning Spaces
Description: What you expect from the students every time they are moving between classrooms or learning spaces.
When to use: Whenever your class is moving to another location within or near the school.
What’s the point? This routine enables students to move quietly and calmly and efficiently between classrooms/learning spaces without disrupting other classes.
Sequence:
Teacher: Explain to the students that we have a particular way you expect them to transition to other classrooms or places. To help students learn the routine, use the sequence below to guide your instruction.
Explain the complete sequence of the Transitioning between Classrooms/Learning Spaces routine:
i. Our class is moving to…(explain the destination of the class)
ii. We will line up… (narrate where you want the class to line-up)
iii. On my signal we will move to our destination.
You will: - stay in your lines while walking
- keep up with the person in front of you
- move quietly
iv. I will stop at certain points to make sure our class is staying together.
v. On arrival at our destination we will wait quietly in our lines for further directions.
2. Let students practise the complete routine, one element at a time.
3. If students talk or do not follow an instruction, repeat the element of the routine that was not done correctly.
Key Considerations:
Þ Before your class moves, think about the best route to take that will minimise disruption to other classes.
Þ Think about where is the best place for you to position yourself as the class moves through the school.
Þ Acknowledge students who are meeting or exceeding the behaviour expectations.
Random Acts of Kindness Week is an annual celebration dedicated to encouraging and spreading kindness in communities, schools, workplaces, and beyond. It is typically observed in the second full week of February, with Random Acts of Kindness Day falling on February 17th.
What is Random Acts of Kindness Week?
It’s a special week where we try to do extra kind things for others, just because it makes the world a better place!
What is kindness?
Kindness is being nice, helpful, and caring to others. It can be big, like helping someone who is hurt, or small, like giving a big smile.
Why do we celebrate it?
When we are kind, it makes us and others feel happy. It can turn someone's bad day into a good day!
How can we show kindness?
Say "thank you" to someone.
Help a friend clean up.
Give someone a high five or a smile.
Write a kind note for a friend or teacher.
Let someone go first in a game.
Remember: You don’t need a special day to be kind—you can do kind things every day!
Before Watching the Video
What does it feel like to be included?
Have you ever felt left out? How did it make you feel?
What are some ways we can be kind to others when they feel sad or alone?
After Watching the Video
How do you think the boy felt when no one came to his birthday party?
How did the strangers show kindness to him?
What would you do if you saw someone feeling left out?
Have you ever done something kind for someone else? How did it make you feel?
Why is it important to include others and be kind?
Follow-up Activity
Draw a picture of a time you showed kindness to someone.
Make a "Kindness Plan" where you write or draw one kind thing you can do for someone this week.
Role-play different ways to include someone who feels left out (e.g., inviting them to play, sitting with them at lunch).
What is a stereotype?
When we judge people by the way they look, speak, what kind of music they listen to, or what clothes they wear we miss out on who they really are.
Why do you think that stereotypes lead to bullying?
A stereotype is a judgement. How does it feel to be judged?
What stereotypes stop people belonging at St. Kilian's?
Are we all the same at St. Kilian's?
Why is it good when everyone is different?
Treat Others how you want to be treated (Stop video after Step One)
Discuss - How do you like your friends to treat you?
Create a class list of how we are good friends in our class
Do we all need to like the same things, and be like each other to be a good friend?
Do we all like to be treated the same way? Yes being kind is important to being a good friend
