At the world half marathon championships Peres Jepchirchir set a new womens only race 1/2 marathon WR of 1:05.16

Germany's Melat Yisak Kejeta finished second with a new European women-only record in 1:05:18, with Ethiopia’s Yalemzerf Yehualaw third in 1:05:19.
