Analysis
The LibGuide I created for this course successfully met several key learning objectives. It showed my ability to conduct an effective reference interview by identifying user needs and providing relevant resources. I used efficient search strategies and basic reference sources to help answer patron questions. The guide also acted as a subject guide, demonstrating my skills in creating pathfinders. Plus, I explored new technologies to make sure the guide was easy to use and accessible, which improved the overall information services. This project helped me connect with professional discussions by staying in line with current trends in reference services.
The LibGuide was successful because of its clear organization, reliable sources, and focus on the user. However, I think it could be improved by adding more interactive features or multimedia resources to make it more engaging. Through this process, I learned the importance of balancing detailed information with ease of use, making sure the content is both comprehensive and easy to navigate.
Reflection
Reflecting on the creation and analysis of the LibGuide, I realize how much this project helped me better understand reference services. By selecting and evaluating resources, I improved my skills in conducting reference interviews and creating user-friendly guides.
Looking ahead, I see opportunities to add more interactive features to make the guides even more engaging. This experience has strengthened my commitment to regularly assess and adjust my approach, making sure my work meets professional standards and the changing needs of users.
