Analysis:
In my essay, I emphasized the importance of each core value and how they relate to Library and Information Science (LIS), connecting them to the learning outcomes about understanding basic concepts of information and knowledge. I showed how these values tie into the overall mission of libraries and their role in community engagement and knowledge sharing.
However, I realize I could have included more specific examples of how these values are put into practice in real-life situations and discussed the effects of current information policies to make my points stronger. This exploration helped me see that values are central to the identity and function of libraries and deepened my understanding of the ethical and philosophical foundations of LIS.
Reflection:
Reflecting on my essay, I see that these values serve as practical guides for how libraries operate. In the future, I plan to work on projects like community reading initiatives, analyze current information policies, and engage with different perspectives to better understand and apply values like tolerance and cultural excellence.
