Who: Students enrolling in undergraduate or graduate colleges/universities.
What: The Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an online application.
When: FAFSA opens every year on October 1st. Complete as soon as possible!
Where: Complete it here: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Send the application to the colleges you are applying to. List 10 colleges at a time.
Why: It allows students to receive aid for post-secondary expenses.
How: Create an FSA ID, gather required documents, complete online application, sign and submit.
Tips:
complete as soon as possible after October 1st; the earlier you complete it the more aid you are likely to receive
complete it alongside your parent/legal guardian for tax information questions
list all the schools you are considering applying to; if applying to more than 10, substitute colleges into your list once you have submitted it and then resubmit
write down you FSA ID and Save Key
Save Key is a "password" you make that lets you pick up on your FAFSA where you left off
