This Privacy Policy explains how our Bible applications (The Scripture and The Bible) handle user data. Both applications are designed with a local-first approach for personal study content, while utilizing third-party advertising networks to maintain free access.
1. Personal Data & Account Information We do not require user account creation or registration to use either application. We do not directly collect, store, or ask for personal details such as your name, email address, or phone number.
2. Local Data Storage & User Annotations All personal study content created within the applications is stored exclusively on your local device:
UserData & Reading History: Bookmarks, highlights, notes, saved collections, reading progress, and custom preferences are stored locally using localStorage or IndexedDB.
Offline Content: Downloaded Bible chapters and whole-book files are cached locally on your device for offline access.
This data remains strictly under your control and is never transmitted to, backed up on, or synced with external cloud servers.
3. Advertising & Third-Party Ad Networks To support the ongoing development and keep these applications free, we display third-party advertisements, including full-screen (interstitial) ads and banners.
Ad Providers: We partner with third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdMob).
Information Collected by Ad Networks: These networks may automatically collect and process technical data to deliver, measure, and personalize ads. This information may include your device's Advertising ID (e.g., Google Advertising ID / AAID), IP address, device model, operating system version, and ad interaction data.
Ad Functionality: This data is used for serving advertisements, fraud prevention, frequency capping (ensuring you do not see the same interstitial ad repeatedly), and ad performance analysis.
4. Network Access & External Services The applications request internet connectivity strictly for essential operational needs:
Ad Delivery: Fetching ad content from authorized third-party ad servers.
Audio Streaming: Streaming chapter audio narration directly from public HTTPS media mirrors.
5. On-Device Study Assistant & Insights Features such as the Study Assistant, verse insights, historical contexts, and connection graphs operate entirely offline using built-in, local dictionaries. They do not send user queries or text to external AI models or third-party servers.
6. User Choices & Ad Control You can control or opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device's operating system settings:
Android: Navigate to Settings > Google > Ads to reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads.
iOS: Navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking to manage application tracking permissions.
7. Data Retention and Erasure Since all personal study data is stored locally on your device, clearing local application storage or uninstalling the app will permanently delete all your saved notes, bookmarks, and cached offline chapters.
