COIL / COIL PROP

  1. Bring 50 to 100 feet of hose to your objective.

    1. Coil and/or coil prop are for confined areas where accordion stretches are not an option.

  2. Neatly placed down shoulder load with the nozzle at your left knee.

  3. Move nozzle and first flake of hose toward your knees, place second flake in the crook of your right arm.

    1. Alternate between knee and arm for the rest of the coil.

  4. Once the coil is completed, lay it out using one of the two methods.

    1. On the ground:

      1. Stand up with the hose on your right arm and step into coil with your right foot.

      2. Place the hose down so that it forms a large circle.

      3. Use leg clamp method at nozzle to secure hose.

    2. Coil Prop on Wall:

      1. Stand up with the hose on your right arm and step into coil with your right foot.

      2. With left foot, stand on the on the hose immediately behind the nozzle to keep it in place.

      3. Hold coil against the wall by placing left arm into coil and both hands against the wall.

  5. Call for water identifying preconnect color
