HOW TO BEAM RAISE A 24’ EXTENSION LADDER, ONE PERSON HIGH SHOULDER METHOD


  1. Position ladder

  1. Lying flat on the ground

  1. Take position

  1. Facing tip of ladder

  1. Near the middle of ladder

  1. Kneeling

  1. Maintaining proper body mechanics

  1. Back Straight

  1. Beam ladder

  1. Lifting away from body

  1. Using inside hand

  1. Take position

  1. Next to beamed ladder

  1. Walk to tip of ladder

  1. Lift ladder

  1. Using legs

  1. Back straight

  1. Pivoting towards ladder

  1. Place outside hand beneath bottom beam

  1. To high shoulder carry

  1. Setting lower beam on shoulder

  1. Move toward ladder base

  1. To find balance point

  1. Bend at knees

  1. Back straight

  1. Pick ladder up off ground

  1. Carry ladder towards objective

  1. Butt of ladder angled slightly downward

  1. Check and clear overhead

  1. Obstructions

  1. Electrical hazards

  1. Spot ladder

  1. Lower butt

  1. Knees bent

  1. Lowering beam only

  1. Raise ladder

  1. To vertical position

  1. With both arms extended

  1. Pivot ladder (if needed)

  1. Until rungs are parallel to wall

  1. Extend fly

  1. Visualize and verbalize pawls locked

  1. Heel ladder

  1. One foot on rung

  1. Lower ladder

  1. Against objective

  1. Gently

  1. Secure halyard

        1. Announce ladder is ready to climb
