How to Load Working Line

LOADING THE WORKING LINE

  1. Pick up female coupling

  2. Place coupling

    • In either rear corner of hose bed

  3. Continue to flat load until the last 300’

  4. Place the last male coupling of the flat load outside of the hose bed

    • On diamond plate behind hose bed nearest captain side of engine

  5. Place nozzle against hose divider on engineer side of hose bed

    • Flush with the end of the hose bed

  6. Load 50’ hose on top of nozzle

    • Ensure first bite is loaded behind the bale

  7. Continue to load hose

    • In stack load manner

    • Until 50’ coupling

  8. Place 50’ coupling up on top of nozzle in front of the bale

  9. Continue to load hose

    • Until 100’ female coupling

  10. Place 100’ female coupling on top of hose

    • Flush with the end of the hose bed

    • Dutchman excess hose to the cab side of the hose bed

  11. Place male coupling of next 100’ shoulder section flush with the edge of the hose bed

    • Begin to load next shoulder selection beside previous shoulder section

    • Place stacked folds back 6” from the edge of the flat loaded folds.

    • Once 50’ coupling reached, place towards tailboard side of hose bed with male coupling up

  12. Continue to load hose with folds 6” back.

    • Until 100’ female coupling

  13. Place 100’ female coupling on top of hose

  14. Repeat steps 10-12

    • Until all shoulder sections complete

  15. Connect last shoulder section female coupling

    • To male coupling that was removed from hose bed at the end of flat load

    • Place coupling on top of last shoulder section towards rear of hose bed

  16. Connect nozzle shoulder section female coupling to male of 2nd shoulder section

    • Leave coupling in front of 2nd shoulder section

  17. Connect 2nd shoulder section female coupling to male of 3rd shoulder section

    • Leave coupling in front of 3rd shoulder section
