River Action Projects 2024

River Action Projects Overview

The River Action Projects were a call for youth (ages 13-19) in Colorado, to work alongside Colorado environmental industry professionals to create action projects that addressed the rivers biggest barriers to being pollution-free. The projects worked through a framework of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), STEM, youth voice and community impact. (Framework will be listed on here soon)!

Together, these groups of individuals came together for 9 months to learn and address the issues facing the South Platte River, create solutions, and positively impact nearby waterways. The ideas brought forth were a combination of youth passionate to help the river, and experts who were willing to share their knowledge, experience, and time to work within their teams. The projects were showcased at our River Rescue Summit on October 12th 2024 at CSU Spur Campus (Hydro Building).

Three teams were initiated out of 10 total youth who applied to be apart of our program: Rain Garden Warriors, Rivers-Recreation-Restoration, & Stormwater Data Collectors. Please click through the sections in our website to read more about each project as they are added on here!
