Learn to "read" the river corridor

Join a guided bike trip along a key segment of the river corridor to observe how river conditions differ and how the corridor interfaces with surrounding land uses. You’ll see who else is using the corridor and what lives there. You’ll also observe the different kinds of water (elements of One Water) that enter (and in some cases exit) the river corridor, including stormwater, treated wastewater, and irrigation water.

After participating in this activity, you should be able to...

  • Understand the diverse elements, human-made and natural, of the river corridor and their relationships.

  • Explain the interconnections of types of water entering the corridor and their potential impacts on the river and water quality.

  • Locate the river in the context of familiar city landmarks (such as streets and bridges) you already know.

  • Be able to speak from experience about at least one form of recreation (biking) in the corridor.
