I'm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After crossing the state line, the old Route 66 became a very well maintained road and pleasant to drive. But it doesn't mean that there is enough traffic to bring business. On the contrary, bypassed by I-40, most buildings along the road are ruins. In one of the photos, I tried to capture an image of this old road being sandwiched between the railroad and I-40. As I got close to Albuquerque, I took a backroad, thinking it would be a pleasant scenic ride. Big mistake. The road was not maintained at all, as you see in the photo. Painful drive. Upon arriving in Albuquerque, I went to Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. The glorified images of Route 66 are masking the suffering and injustice. History has not been kind to many people and it will not be for a while.
