I continued my southbound drive from Klamath Falls on Oregon State Route 39. In less than half an hour, I crossed the state line into California.
On this road and subsequent country roads, I nearly ran over three deer, then two cows, then two more deer later. It was early morning, and traffic was light. The animals were taking their time, roaming around freely.
My route passed by Lassen Volcanic National Park, so I popped into the park and took a hike, circumnavigating Manzanita Lake.
I'm in Chico tonight, marking the last night of my road trip. Tomorrow, I'm watching Yankees - A's game in Sacramento before I head home.
