I visited Roma Street station on 26 November 2017.
Roma Street is located on all lines except for the Rosewood line. It is served by services to Beenleigh, Caboolture, Cannon Hill, Cleveland, Coopers Plains, Domestic Terminal, Doomben, Ferny Grove, Gympie North, Ipswich, Kippa-Ring, Nambour, Northgate, Park Road, Shorncliffe, Springfield Central and Varsity Lakes. Some peak services terminate at Bowen Hills and Roma Street.
Roma Street station opened on 14 June 1875 as Brisbane when the Main line was extended from Ipswich and shortly later a goods and carriages shed was added. In 1882, Roma Street became a junction station with the opening of the Sandgate line (now Shorncliffe). The station was renamed Roma Street on 18 August 1889 with the opening of Central station. On 30 April 1940, additional platforms were added as long distance services began to serve Roma Street. Following the opening of the Merivale Bridge on 18 November 1978, Roma Street was served by all Beenleigh line services as well as interstate services to Sydney. In October 1986, the Brisbane Transit Centre opened just south of the station. As part of the quadruplication of the line the station was rebuilt. On 1 November 1995, platform 10 was opened for long distance services. Platforms 7, 8 and 9 opened on 11 June 1996 while platforms 4, 5 and 6 opened in January 1997. Platform 1 became part of the Roma Street busway station on 19 May 2008.
Roma Street station was named after the street it is on.
Roma Street station has ten platforms consisting of 2 side platforms and 4 island platforms. Platform 1 is for outbound busway services and platform 2 is shared between inbound busway services train services to Sydney and one weekday service to Doomben. Platform 3 is for services to Bowen Hills, Domestic Terminal and Doomben and platform 4 is for Beenleigh, Coopers Plains, Park Road and Varsity Lakes services. Platform 5 is for Beenleigh, Cannon Hill, Cleveland, Coopers Plains and Park Road services and platform 6 is for Beenleigh, Coopers Plains, Domestic Terminal, Doomben, Ferny Grove, Northgate, Shorncliffe and Varsity Lakes. Platform 7 is for Bowen Hills, Caboolture, Domestic Terminal, Doomben, Ferny Grove, Gympie North, Northgate and Shorncliffe and platform 8 is for Ipswich and Springfield Central services. Platform 9 is for Bowen Hills, Caboolture, Kippa-Ring and Nambour services and platform 10 is for Traveltrain services to Bundaberg, Cairns, Charleville, Longreach and Rockhampton.
Roma Street station has numerous entrances.
Roma Street station does have disability access.
