Coopers Plains station opened in 1885 at the same time as the line. On 18 September 1982, the line was duplicated between 1950 and 1952 from Yeerongpilly to Kuraby. On 18 September 1982, the line was electrified from Roma Street to Kingston. In 2008, the station was upgraded due to the Salisbury to Kuraby triplication
Coopers Plains serves the homonymous suburb of Coopers Plains. It was originally named Cowpers Plains by John Oxley after Dr Henry Cowper who was the Assistant Surgeon-in-Charge of the Moreton Bay Settlement where Brisbane CBD is today from 1823 to 1832 and by 1877 the area became known as Coopers Plains.
Coopers Plains station has three platforms consisting of an island platform and a side platform. Platform 1 is used for Beenleigh services, platform 2 is for commencing and terminating services as well as peak services to Kuraby and Beenleigh and platform 3 is for Bowen Hills and Ferny Grove services.
Coopers Plains station has two station entrances. One is the carpark on Henley Street and one is the carpark on Clinton Street.
