Poet and writer, one of the brightest representatives of Kazakh literature of the early XX century. Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov was born in 1893 in Bayanaul district of Pavlodar region.
In 1902-1911, he studied in various schools and madrasas. In November 1912, S. Toraigyrov went to Troitsk, wanting to continue his education. In the autumn of 1916, S. Toraigyrov entered Russian language courses in Tomsk. In March 1917, in Semipalatinsk, he worked as a Junior Secretary in the Kazakh Committee. The Saryarka newspaper publishes his articles and poems, where he praises the leaders of the Alash party. Due to the state of his health, he returned to Bayanaul in the summer of 1918. Here he worked as a teacher, wrote poems, poems. S. Toraigyrov lived only 27 years. But despite this, he managed to leave a valuable literary legacy to his descendants. His works are multi-genre, rich in subject matter, and deeply meaningful. Their main feature is realism and nationality.
The mausoleum of S. Toraigyrov is located 3 km East of the village, 1 km northeast of the lake. Toraigyr, on the road to Pavlodar. In 1958, an obelisk was installed on the grave and a metal fence was made. In 1975, a new obelisk with a bas-relief on the front face was installed. In 1993, a mausoleum was built over the grave to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth. It is made of limestone blocks in the tradition of memorial architecture of Western Kazakhstan. On both sides of the mausoleum in a row are ustasi over the graves. The area around the mausoleum is lined with slabs of torn granite and fenced.
The sacredness of the mausoleum of Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov is determined by the place of the outstanding poet and writer in modern Kazakh culture, the role in the development of public life in Kazakhstan at the beginning of the twentieth century. The activities, ideas, and creative style of Sultanmakhmut as a poet, writer, and public figure had a huge impact on the formation of national consciousness and culture of entire generations of Kazakhs, and on the maintenance of national consciousness on the way to independence. The desire to pay tribute to the memory of the outstanding personality of the poet and read a prayer caused a mass visit to the place of his burial.
