Wanted interactions: Doctor Who characters starting from the 9th era, alien friendly fandoms, BG3, fandoms with apocalyptic (TLOU & TWD), sci-fi or supernatural elements (warning: she can only physically harm people she perceives as bad, but in her canon she's semi-hostile to the Doctor and the Master, the extent of it will depend on how threads develop).
Open to ship with: everybody? But she can also come off as "into" people she hates because the line is fuzzy to her.
fc: lesley-ann brandt
Potential triggers: she's a bully and a semi-monster (she can't really be one anymore for external reasons, but she's adapting and losing some of her edge) with abusive parents and a toxic-violent personality 90% of the time. She will claim her parents' abuse was good because it helped her toughen up (while she will admit to being afraid of her mother) until she'll find out that her parents had more children and actually act normal with them, which will promptly make Torvic's life-mission to get revenge.
you can skip this if you already know Doctor, straight to the next bold sentence, otherwise don't: she's from a planet named Gallifrey: its noble class 'Time Lords' can travel through time and space (the TARDIS are their ships), though she's been kinda left out of the loop. The Doctor (original name Theta) is the main character. The Master is an antagonist (original name Koschei) who went mad, and at some point even controlled Earth, though it was all 'erased' from time. The Doctor ended the war between Time Lords and Daleks (alien race hellebent on exterminating life forms) by sealing them in time and "killing them", then they were brought back and now they seem dead again due to the Master. Time Lords are a little too comfortable deciding the fate of the universe.
Time Lords also 'regenerate' a finite amount of time when they 'die' (their bodies change, and partly their personalities as well) and there is a whole story about that and how Tecteun, the scientist behind it, got to have that ability, but it's not needed outside of Doctor Who.
All I know about canon Torvic is right here:
She/they'll basically be the 'muzzled monster' trope, who has an inch of compassion after being changed by her first forced regeneration, curious about humans and unable to hurt anyone who isn't a villain. The type who will be poking at the heroes and being annoying and bloodthirsty... and then a season later she gets hurt to protect your muse.
Who was he? Coming from an extremely nasty family, Torvic decided soon enough that if he was in pain, EVERYONE should be in pain. He especially focused his bullying on the Master and the Doctor because jealous and wanting their attention. Instead of breaking the circle of abuse, he hula-hooped it. He liked hurting people, his parents did their best to create a sadistic monster. After what you read in the quote above happens, his mother finds the burned body and:
If you are pro timeless child plot (the Doctor is an alien to his people too and his ability to regenerate was stolen by Gallifreians), Tecteun brought Torvic's burnt corpse to the Looms to attempt a revival for "scientific" purposes, first time applying regeneration energy to a recently dead Gallifreyan. If you are anti-timeless child it was Torvic's mother who requested an attempt to resurrect her, because Torvic's parents weren't ready to let go of their 'life work', and Tecteun fixed her.
Regardless it took years for it to work, and Torvic woke up as a she (she/they, genderfluid) after the Doctor had already left with his TARDIS. Tecteun gave her a bit of compassion/ability to form bonds while reviving her, because Torvic was 'too out of control'. Her father had a problem with her new female-appearance, hence Torvic keeping it and changing pronouns for her new self.
Sent away so that no one would know about this experiment, Torvic was trained to be a merciless soldier and went on to be cruel until she messed with the wrong civilization: they slapped a pair of cuffs on her wrists that will prevent her from hurting people she doesn't perceive as 'evil'. This means she cannot harm the Doctor, she could harm the Master maybe but let's be real, she's obsessed by them and wouldnì't anyway. Lost to Gallifrey, she literally missed the Time War.
She ended up fighting "evil" enemies just to hurt somebody. Kept time-space traveling with a vortex manipulator until she chose to stay on Earth to keep tabs on her old "friends". Her little spot of compassion is growing. She never became a Time Lady and didn't get to finish the academy.
No title, no TARDIS, wonky regeneration system due to her "resurrection", her only 'special' skill is being extremely strong. Since I don't want her to suck at everything and have nothing, though, she does have telepathic abilities but she considers them cheating and boring, so she won't use them except to shield herself from telepathic attacks. Unless the other rper wants to explore the idea of Torvic seeing into their muse's mind.
Why can't the Master kill her since she's his bully? (that's my excuse, if you have a better one for your Master, tell me!) Murder-filter against the people responsible for her first death, works like a strong perception filter, keeps the Master from being able to try. She, meanwhile, wouldn't want to kill him: If she interacts with him, she'll provoke and mock, but also occasionally try to chat because who else is she going to be able to talk to? Not only she's bored, but she enjoys his personality and would not want him to die or be hurt by others.
Why can't the Doctor kill her? Same murder-filter against people responsible for her death as the Master, but also she's pathetic got the cuffs so you can instead use that angle. She's extremely uncomfortable if he's being genuinely kind (she wanted to fight!), and if for some reason they shared an adventure she'd likely have fun (and hate it). She respects that he killed her even if she'll pettily bring it up often.
With companions/people: annoying but not hellbent on hurting them, she doesn't hold a grudge against humans, she just likes to create chaos and make them uncomfortable. She uses humans often, to get free food and things, can still be sadistic, but if she bonds with one they can have her loyalty. In new threads I assume she's met the Doctor and the Master before meeting your muse and she's 'on thin ice' with the Doctor (meaning he'd keep an eye on her - and probably, simultaneously, try to figure out if she's still the same monster, because one who looks carefully can see she's not as evil).
Loves: dogs and music. She will risk her life for dogs. Fostered a dobermann and never recovered. Hates: fire. Children.
Ship-wise: anyone interested will have to deal with the fact that the Master and the Doctor, in this order, are her major source of entertainment (though that may change with feelings in the mix) and obsession (unlikely to change). She finds 'love' embarrassing.
Can she change? A little. She still likes to be a dick, violence, and won't suddenly start caring for everyone she meets. She's actually glad that Time Lords were all murdered, learning about that allowed her to be less hateful. The cuffs also helped her chill. She's also curious about the Doctor's clear preference for Earth and other "inferior" species.
A habit she has, regardless of the universe, that people from her bio can recognize: she spins/twirls a knife in her hand (or a knife in each hand) like it's a fidget spinner.
She follows the Spike (BTVS)'s general philosophy of 'I'd never actually want to destroy all creation, I LIKE this universe' because who she'd annoy if everyone is dead? She's still chaotic, will steal/break/annoy/lie, but if she gives her favors to someone she will be aggressively loyal. In fact, if you watched Buffy, think of young Torvic as Angelus before the 'death', then back as Spike and now chipped Spike.
They'll basically be the 'muzzled monster' trope, who has an inch of compassion after being changed by her first death and forced revival, curious about humans and unable to hurt anyone who isn't a villain due to external reasons out of her control. The type who will be poking at the heroes and being annoying and bloodthirsty... and then a season later she gets hurt to protect your muse.
She's going to be very cliche-y (but hey, cliches exist for a reason, and the ones I chose for her are generally associated to male characters) and every fandom will have some specifics added, but the next bullet points are true in every universe because I want her to BE Torvic in every fandom.
born and raised by parents who tortured and abused her to make her a perfect fighter/monster. They are part of a cult or in any case a group of very creepy, very powerful people that generally exist in every fandom. Thinking of some of my most used fandoms in this blog and how she'd fit, in
Fallout (especially tvshow) she'd have been the daughter of someone important from Vault Tec pre-war (and they are all still alive) who turned her into a mutant soon after the bombs happened,
the Magicians she's a trickster,
in Dragon Age straight up a demon from the fade who got cast out,
generic fantasy/magical/alien fandoms including one piece with its advanced tech: part of a famous cult, her family is known to be made out of absolute monsters.
unless she's a magical creature raised by her parents to be a monster, she was drugged since she was a child to suppress her ability to empathize and symphatize
as a kid she's an awful and violent bully (constantly abused at home to strengthen her character), has two recurring victims she's kind of obsessed with, Theta and Koschei. One day she goes too far and almost drowns Koschei, so Theta hits her with a rock to and 'kills' her. Magic is used to revive her by force, outside of fallout, where it's tech that turns her into a mutant, then she goes into cryo like most people in that Vault.
plot twist for her parents: the scientist Tecteun, recognizing that Torvic will once again be out of control after being revived, uses her magic/tech to give Torvic the ability to care again on top of reviving her. Torvic's return is only possible because Torvic's specie/clan/family had been working on this ability, although this is the first time death gets straight up cheated. She goes from a he to a she physically, always felt genderfluid, but her father is so against it that she fully identifies as a she ever since.
Torvic keeps being a monster and is basically exiled by her group until she becomes "more reliable".
She ages very slowly (and as an adult her aging will basically stop), has no special powers except being extremely dangerous and exceptional in combat. To homage her canon story she still has regenerative powers, which got wonky, and she cannot change her entire appearance anymore, she just heals fast (and can sacrifice some of that energy to heal someone else).
Eventually she kills the wrong group and she's cursed/has a piece of tech put in her head as a punishment: she can never hurt anyone, not even try, not even help others do it, UNLESS she perceives them as evil or she will be under a tremendous amount of pain. Cast out and unable to defend herself from those she considers good guys, she's bored out of her mind and forced to fight the bad ones if she wants some violence.
for everybody from every fandom:
having the chance to live among regular humans she finds out she loves dogs, music, and that people can be easily manipulated with empty threats or sex. If joining your group, she's more the muscle, and a menace, who is always trying to hurt somebody's feelings because she still likes it.
A habit she has, regardless of the universe, that people can recognize: she spins/twirls a knife in her hand (or a knife in each hand) like it's a fidget spinner.
when she finds your muse and for some external reason she's forced to join, she will still be a dick when she can, but also doesn't want to risk being alone again because it's so much more entertaining to have company, so she'll have to relatively hold back (also because your muse should have some reason to keep her alive); she's all for pushing your muse to do bad things on her behalf at the beginning, but that ability to care is going to bite her back. The fun of her arc will be turning her into someone who actually wants to kinda help, much to her horror.
for more fandom-specific reasons to hang out if you want to skip plotting a first meeting: in Fallout she is already looking for her parents to get revenge after she found out they are normal parents to their new kids and were only monsters to her, and that has her aligning with whatever. Can't die when shot, which helps. Magicians: obviously summoned as a trickster because the group knows she can't hurt good guys and they were desperate against a random enemy. She decided to stick around because they keep bumping into people she can hurt. Dragon Age: joins the party at the Circle for better or worse, bonds with the Hero of Ferelden and can show up later too since she knows Leiana. One Piece: I'm still at the time-skip but while she's considered a demon-pirate she's clearly harmless to the crew and joins them temporarily due to a common goal: she might know how to get through some particularly dangerous and confusing waters and needs passage to get to her parents and kill them.
She follows the Spike (BTVS)'s general philosophy of 'I'd never actually want to destroy all creation, I LIKE this universe' because who she'd annoy if everyone is dead? They are part of a cult or in any case a group of very creepy, very powerful people that generally exist in every fandom. Thinking of some of my most used fandoms in this blog and how she'd fit, in The Last of Us: raised in a cult that started before the end of the world and only got progressively worse. Which means she was nearly 20 when the world ended and she had already killed people. Twd: cult existed even before the end of the world and rapidly got worse,
She was drugged since she was a child to suppress her ability to empathize and symphatize. She was purposefully turned into a monster by her parents.
as a kid she's an awful and violent bully (constantly abused at home to strengthen her character), has two recurring victims she's kind of obsessed with, Theta and Koschei. One day she goes too far and almost drowns Koschei, so Theta hits her with a rock to and 'kills' her (In TWD she's older when this happens, still pre-apocalypse). She's almost brain-dead but an experimental drug is used to revive her, the scientist Tecteun being in charge of it.
Her parents wanted her to be a boy and she went along with it, but after this near-death experience she felt like exploring her actual gender, and they had such a hateful, misogynistic reaction that she decided to identify back to "girl" out of pettiness.
When Torvic is revived, she's been off her meds for a while, and Tecteun makes sure the pill bottles she's given are placebos, so she can start re-developing the ability to care, because she's way too much of a risk to their own people. Torvic is exiled from the group until she becomes more reliable and left to her own devices. Naturally she follows what she's used to do/be, and leads groups of outlaws that will kill and torture for fun, at first.
Eventually she starts realizing nothing feels as good as before, and starts growing curious. She goes back to Tecteun and she's told what her parents have done to her and how she's been under their control the whole time (however, if you will allow some piece of tech in her brain to keep her from hurting people she perceives as good, this is still the best way to go). This is enough for Torvic to forcefully stop herself from killing random people, even though it's her specialty, and instead she starts studying how people work, trying to understand what they are like, what she is and what she actually wants to do. She's making a point to not physically hurt innocent people because she doesn't want to do what her parents basically built her for, and is extremely volatile and confused as a result. Despite this, she'll still revert to her old ways of thinking at times and claim all the abuse she received was good because it made her strong. To be clear, morally she sucks and she's just trying to be on the side of the Good Guys because she wants to be the opposite of what her parents wanted (so she's still technically living a life based on them) so she's really, really hoping she gets to kill somebody at least on the Bad Guys' side (which can include "so he's bad, right? which means I can kill him, right? Right???")
having the chance to live among regular humans she finds out she loves dogs, music, and that people can be easily manipulated with empty threats or sex. If joining your group, she's more the muscle than the lead, and a menace, who is at least trying to hurt somebody's feelings because she still likes it.

for more fandom-specific reasons to hang out if you want to skip plotting a first meeting: Firefly: obviously would end up helping River against the Alliance because she can fight them and not her, and join the group temporarily/by accident. The Last Of Us or TWD: she's looking for her family/cult to get revenge, she may have crossed your muse's path before. Her cult has done something horrible to your muse's group or your muse themselves, maybe? So your objectives cross.
She follows the Spike (BTVS)'s general philosophy of 'I'd never actually want to destroy all creation, I LIKE this universe' because who she'd annoy if everyone is dead? before her death
current Torvic
Torvic is a companion because she'd suck at as Tav, unless you want that sort of mean leadership. She's 100% the muscle, not the brain and can reference the Tav I write here (Lex) for simplicity, unless you have one yourself. Losely inspired by Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
my FAVORITE idea would be to put her in a GOOD playthrough, whether as leader or follower, just to watch all the character development happen, and her learning how to be emotionally mature and almost decent.
She exists because I think it will be fun to explore what it's like to have such a devil on your side (once she gets attached) and what effect she and your muse can have on each other.
For easy plotting/threads, you can assume when we start writing that: she's clearly bloodthirsty and a tad insensitive and sadistic especially at the beginning (act 1), but will follow the good guys' lead because she can't defend herself from them due to the curse. She'll pass for a tiefling until Mizora outs her as a semi-harmless devil who belongs to Raphael. She's the type to ask if you are hitting on her after you threaten her, and to push other team members to fight each other. Tav and her companions are the first people she's close to and can influence her a lot. She also has nothing against Raphael himself. Doesn't want the world to end, how would she have fun then?
Orientation and identity: She was raised as an elf boy (because 'men are warriors') and went along with it, but as an adult she'd feel "she" and accept "they" in response to her parents' misogyny. Genderfluid and identifying as 'whatever bothers her parents the most'. Also she's pansexual and can act a bit sultry/provocative even when she doesn't like the person that way, just to be annoying. She does like fighting a bit too much, though.
Backstory: Torvic was born from Bhaalist parents. She was raised to be a monster through torture and lessons, to be gifted to Orin. Torvic felt that if she was suffering then everyone else should suffer too. If an Orin rper is against this, we swap with the Ketheric/Myrkul duo for them. Torvic still won't be anything special to either Chosen.
While indifferent to her, Orin left her in her minions' hands, and years later a Torvic in her early-twenties returned home to have some fun. She overdid it when bullying her old victims, and one of them hit her with a rock over the head to protect his friend: sent straight into a coma, Torvic seemed dead so they decided to burn the body. << paralleling her canon story.
She was found still alive by her mother, who didn't want to lose her life's work, and since Orin wasn't interested in wasting time with her after such a pitiful "death", she was given to Raphael to fix (if a Raphael rper is against being involved in a backstory, it will be Zhalk). He did it by turning her into a minor devil and, in exchange for it, he got to keep her.
She still had some free time to keep terrorizing others until she exterminated the wrong druids and their loved ones found a perfect curse for her: from then on, Torvic would not be able to hurt anyone unless she perceived them as evil, not even to protect herself. She'd feel extreme pain just trying to physically hurt anyone else. Her parents' hope she'd become one of Bhaal's favorites was truly over.
Torvic was stuck fighting evil if in need of violence. Potential Raphael/Zhalk rpers can pick his reaction, but by default I assume she's useless right now (though she'd be 'called' if needed). She 'settled' in Faerun after this, and later had her wings ripped off by one of her victims (a paladin named Dargal), in an act of revenge that she respects, so she can sort of pass for a pretty tiefling, 100% using her sex appeal or threats to get what she wants. If her back is visible, you'll see the scars.
People make her curious (and she's bored when left alone), and while she still enjoys provoking and can't help being an ass, she is finally capable of bonding and changing (partly because her whole body 'regenerating' as a devil took away from the after-effects of her upbringing).
She'll go from someone who genuinely won't care if the tieflings get murdered to rolling her eyes but putting herself in danger to protect someone just because they asked. But to be clear: she'd obviously want to help the groove's tieflings because she can kill the goblins and can't wait to slaughter a camp. She could be used to read what's on Astarion's back, but still need Raphael because she wants wings again. She feels like a limb is missing.
She's also petty, easily offended, if she feels jealous she tries to make the other person jealous, BUT strangely supportive over some random causes (example: Wyll was 17 when he made the pact with Myzora, she'd be openly disgusted that his father wasn't trying to save him above all. Shitty parents are something that hits her even if she'll act relatively chill about hers).
Skills: very physically strong and fights with two weapons, knows fire magic (super uncomfortable with it, considering her 'death'). She can glamour her clothes. Her 'special' attack will burn all the enemies around her and her, and she'll need a long rest at camp, can't be healed normally - for obvious reason she won't use it unless she cares about whoever she's with enough or there is no choice. Immune to necrotic.
As the leader/companion: she'll create the group/join the group because she's well aware she can't fight an enemy unless she knows they are evil, and she needs help to survive. She'll have to learn how to exist in a team and how to be a person. She's uncomfortable with/dislikes children. Too sticky.
She's against any ritual or higher power that may end up enslaving/controlling the person using it, so she wouldn't support ascension or using crowns. Hates all gods alike except maybe Selune.
Mizora will out her as a devil mid-act 1, when she shows up at camp for Wyll. If you think your muse may have heard of her or may be able to recognize her before then, go for it! Her parents are alive thanks to magic and she knows it, so her goal is to find a way to make them pay and possibly free herself from Raphael without necessarily fighting him. She will offer to become a Ilythid at the last fight to protect Tav if Tav was hero-like.
More specifically, when it comes to canon characters and their beginnings (this is for world building purposes and won't apply to your muse unless you want it, we rewrite them from scratch): she would find Lae'zel amazing the way she is, encourage Shadowheart to be an assassin but also tease her over being part of a cult, and poke at both of them to push them to fight more.
She'd offer Astarion her blood because why not (except it probably stings to drink), and sympathize over the Cazador situation since she's belonged to other people ever since she was a kid and Orin doesn't scream 'healthy owner', and in my head she'd have a weird relationship with Mizora (they can't kill each other, one is technically with Orin and Raphael/Zhalk, the other with Zariel, but they can sure hurt each other or gossip together depending on the mood), and like I said this wouldn't be expected from a Mizora rper, it's just what happens with other muses when a NPC Mizora shows up.
She'd try to tempt Wyll for giggles (but she gets belonging to a cambion and, worse, Mizora, and begrudgingly want to help), be unable to be too mean to Karlach because it's Karlach and even Torvic can't, and mess with Gale over his interest in gaining power and in Mystra, and tease him over both (which is cruel, yes, but it says something that Mystra's 'request' of having Gale blow himself up would infuriate Torvic, because he'd inspire her rare 'you deserve better' moments).
Jaheira is a bit of a wild card and I can't predict any attitude, Minsc is hilarious, Boo concerning, Halsin someone to also make fun of, Scratch and the Owlbear are precious to her. She'd have a 'casual' attitude with Raphael/Zhalk, the 'hey boss, what's up' type - she belongs to him, but she's, frankly, too dumb and stubborn to act meek (but she does follow orders, she's a good sport about that and doesn't blame him for anything).
As the game progresses, she will bond with the group and become as loyal as they come. She may have some hero-moments which are disturbing as hell to her.
Has a weakness for dogs and music (and for old people?).
