Lorelei Baltz (OC)

Wanted interactions:  pretty much anyone from universes that are either historical, modern, magical/fantasy or both.
Open to ship with: men. This may change and she'll be open to women as well, selectively, if it works.

-Lorelei is born out of wedlock in Germany, a shameful condition at the time. Her rich and powerful grandmother, the Countess Lorelei the First, takes her in to raise her with love back in London. Her mother Lydia wants little to do with the child who 'forced her to run from society', and will go on to marry a man who will accept her despite her scandals: they will have children she actually wants and Lorelei will be fully left in her grandmother's custody. 

-She has an incredible singing voice and catches more than a man’s eye. She becomes a famous opera singer and hopes she may be accepted after all, have at least a decent life and a home even after her grandmother dies.

-A man who is courting her (Edward) is rejected by her grandmother for being too fickly, so he gets revenge by asking Lorelei a goodbye kiss. It's a trap, of course, meant to fully ruin what was left of her reputation, because his friends make sure they are seen. Rumors fly, suddenly fake lovers pop up.
-Still, Lorelei doesn’t give up on her singing career and wants to travel and start over again. She still wants acceptance and love. 

-She takes some time off from her travels to take care of her dying grandmother, knowing her time is almost over. Then she goes back to look for a home that will accept her (and also hopefully a husband so she can inherit what her grandmother wanted her to have).

-By 25 she’s back in Germany, and there is a cliff where she likes to go to sing by herself. Another man (Earl Russel) wants to make her his mistress, a bad man who felt entitled to her since she is ruined and he's doing her a favor, and when rejected he's infuriated and attacks her, pushing her off the cliff.
She lives.   

-If it's not a magical version of her being rescued from death (see below), it takes her years to recover, a lot of strength, and she’s in her early/mid-thirty in threads. Still a singer after her “mysterious disappearance”, scarred and needing help walking, nearly fully given up on being cared for, still behaving how she finds proper but even more outspoken. 

There is also a sub-verse: legitimate daughter: depending on our plotting needs, her unknown father has royal blood: duke Frederick II of Limburg. He and Lorelei’s mother had a dalliance and he refused to make it legit, but years later he has a change of heart (this can be set before or after the fall from the cliff). He comes back for Lorelei, deciding to recognize her as one of his children, hard as it might be, or at least have her as his ward. This may also be used as a background for arranged marriage plots, since he’d be interested in finding a husband for his daughter regardless of her reputation and his money, for practical reasons but also so that she won’t grow old alone.

The fantasy part of her backstory (v. cursed siren) which also works for magical/fantasy/sci-fi fandoms with some magic in it:

-Sea goddess Calypso can only save her by cursing her: she has extra strength but loses her beauty when she uses it; she keeps her voice, now magical and able to draw men to her especially if abusive. Lorelei is able to tell which men are likely to hurt women because denied, much like the earl tried to do to her, and can kill them.
The curse can only be broken if Lorelei is accepted and loved despite what she is now (not necessarily romantically), or if the man who attacked her is killed before he reaches the natural end of his life. Ordinary weapons are too weak to hurt her, magical ones can. She's not a mindless monster, people can speak to her and even find shelter if not afraid of her. She’s not immortal, she can age (slowly).
After the curse is broken for any reason, Lorelei has to deal with what she chose to do while a siren, has seen too much to care about being accepted by high society, and will go anywhere to cheer people up with her singing/possibly finding love or a family in our threads; she still wants to marry so that no matter who the man is her grandmother’s will can be uphold and she will get her inheritance, much like Lorelei the First wished. Unless the curse is only broken in modern times in Marvel universes and she has to deal with the modern world.. 

Notes to read regardless of what backstory you pick:

-she’ll speak her mind (within reason if still a little too boldly), what’s the point of holding it back? but blushes easily, the poor woman only ever had one kiss despite what her reputation says. She’d also get reasonably scared when in danger and will do as told. Prideful, sometimes bitter, confident in her voice, and once she likes someone definitely becomes more chatty. She’s easily impressed. She becomes more disillusioned about romance, still wishes to marry so she can inherit her grandmother’s belongings, if only because her dear grandmother did not want Lorelei’s mother to have them and assigned them to Lorelei's future husband. The older she is, the more her wish to be accepted stops being about high society or society as a whole and becomes about finding a person or more who will love her for who she is. Even if she can’t find them, she refuses to hide from the world and let it win. She ALWAYS says the truth about what was done to her, because innocent and angry about it.

modern verses: Lorelei is born after a very public scandal: a controversial politician and a woman who has been deemed as 'easy' and who got pregnant but he refused to acknowledge; her mother herself doesn't want her, so it's her grandmother who raises her (same name, loving, old money). Lorelei is a gifted singer from a young age, but socially isolated due to all the rumors about her family, sent to an all female school and with barely any interaction with men. She focuses on her songs but is also extremely romantic and hoping to find romantic love and have a family besides her grandmother. She does fall in love with a guy, Edward, but her grandmother rightfully accuses him of only wanting to be with her for her family money; he gets revenge by making up stories about Lorelei sleeping around for money and fame, and other men in his internet circles join in to confirm and spread them more. Lorelei is stubborn and keeps fighting for her career but is heartbroken, travels a lot to start over, and returns home in her mid-twenties to be close to her dying grandmother. This is when the worst happens, and a rich man who is obsessed with her decides he's entitled to her, since she was nice to him and she's known to be 'as easy as her mother'. When Lorelei rejects him, he follows her to a cliff where she often goes to think and attacks her, pushing her off.
She miraculously survives. In non-magical modern verses, after extensive rehab and some permanent damage including needing walking aids, has a blind eye, and more, she might be singing again or rebuilding a life in a way that will allow our muses to interact.
She's also rich, so depending on your fandom, she could be there because checking on her wounds, needing protection, or because she is investing money where your muse works and has a say in how it's used.

In verses where superpowers exist, like Marvel, something alien in the water changes her, still in the sense of making her a siren. She has extra strength but looks like a monster when in this form (when she looks like herself she's more vulnerable). Her voice is still beautiful, but now also able to draw men, especially if abusive, to her: she can tell which ones have that kind of darkness and is able to kill them.
She can return to a normal appearance and life if persuaded, even if she feels the call of wanting to punish more abusers. Ordinary weapons are too weak to hurt her, magical ones can. She's not a mindless monster, people can speak to her and even find shelter if not afraid of her. She’s not immortal, she can age (slowly).

her personality:

she’ll speak her mind but she's easily embarrassed and blushes around men due to the lack of close contact to them (the way she was raised and the fact that the three closest to her are: her father who refused to recognize her, the man who basically destroyed her reputation and the man who assaulted and almost killed her. She's still KIND, and lonely, and will become chatty if you give her the chance. She's very prideful and bitter, doesn't like that she needs help with her physical problems. At this point she just wishes she could have some peace without being judged.
