Wanted interactions: everyone from all of my fandoms. Obviously there is no need to have watched Squid Games because she has an about for everyone else; I mixed her character with my idea for an OC since she canonically only appears for five seconds in the canon show and those seconds fit my idea well.
Open to ship with: everybody.
fc: Song Ji-woo
Potential triggers: depends on the fandom because her personal life has been lovely. Also, though, she can be classist/insensitive/say offensive things. Do NOT think I don't see the wrongness, I just think she's never touched grass in her life.
General personality: "air-head", party-girl, "o.m.g. girl", accidentally rude but she's actually trying to help???, will use her beauty to get her way, loves herself, loves her face, very into fashion, gets a tiny shred of humanity every time she sees horrors, but to be fair her entire life has been golden up until now. She'll act like she's never heard of any book, but she was top #3 of her high school and went to Harvard "for the status and to reinforce her English" (works as 'Harvard-educated Creative Director' for her father's business, looks like she's just living of IG and tiktok from the outside, she's actually bringing in clients).
Definitely faking some of the helplessness and stupidity, she's likely to study the room and join the strongest people in it. Spoiled, sheltered, rich, will call people names with far too much familiarity (especially if we write in the Squid Games, the 'big brother', 'grandmas' and 'uncles' will be used a lot (YOUR muse doesn't have to accept it), actually has a heart but she'll say the most appalling things. It's a weird mix of 'can she really be that self-centered? can she really be that far away from reality??" and "aww look maybe she has feelings too!".
About the language barrier: Given that you cannot translate the flirtiness behind words like 'oppa' because if you say "big brother" in English you are pretty much telling the other person you are not looking at them that way, I'm going to use an indirect translation of her dialogue with more neutral words that can be used to flirt OR to befriend (her tone helps), and she'll call people things like girl, handsome, queen, babe when she wants to be ambiguous, whether for fun or because sucking it up. I don't like adding Korean words to an English dialogue. If I'm translating, I'm translating.
important: I'm not writing her taking drugs. I think she was curious about Thanos because it's so against the rules to take any in South Korea that she felt intrigued, but she never did any and doesn't intend to. ALSO: YOUR CHARACTER IS ALLOWED TO TELL HER OFF if she's being overly-familiar or thoughtlessly rude.
option A, my DEFAULT, another woman getting shot first so Mi-na survives (the bee chooses the woman who was closest to her). She did NOT sign up to risk her perfect life so she's not okay playing, but she doesn't have a choice. She will use whatever she has to keep others from hurting her. Her arc is still to go from superficial as hell to superficial but with a heart. She could have asked her family for money but was making a point (because they dared to tell her that she needed to take responsibility after she crashed another car) and Mi-na wanted to show them that she could get the money easily all by herself. So she jumped into playing with the recruiter and was so into the game that it became clear she'd be a good toy for the VIPs.
She'll play six-legged race with a faceless team (as the Ggongi player) because, even if she planned to stick very close to Gi-hun for survival reasons, Jun-hee's heartfelt appeal to let her join won her over, and Mi-na "casually" wandered away so she Jun-hee could freely join (I do not ship to them due to this instant protective-feeling she has for her). She has no qualms "befriending" everyone who can keep her alive. If we get there or skip past it, she's a blue player in hide and seek and may follow Hyun-ju around for safety reasons (also grossed out by Jun-hee giving birth). Despite her claims to be the cute uwu weak one, she'd rip someone's face off to survive. We can change anything from canon as we see fit, because I'm looking forward to writing her after the games too.
Option B is that she's a VIP daughter who wanted to try the "fun" so it's easier to write interactions with non-players. Accidentally bonds with people and realizes she doesn't want to do this anymore and that the games suck and aren't fair at all, what happens is traumatic enough to change her perspective. Only remembered the games from how she watched them as a kid when daddy brought his lil princess there to be entertained, being near the people who die playing them is very different.
Can join Gi-hun and change the course of the events but her personality is still that. The guards were instructed not to kill her, obviously, she was the first 'test' of the option 'let VIP go undercover like we did for the Chairman (and the frontman)', but she's aware that going against the game itself and helping Gi-hun may make that contract null. She won't know who the Frontman is unless you play him and want her to be aware.
While of course she signed a contract accepting that they can't protect her if another player goes crazy and decides to kill her in front of everyone with no guards there to stop them, it's generally accepted that she's supposed to let the real player reach the last game so at some point she had to give a signal and fake-lose and be fake-killed (before the bridge, too easy to die there). She should pick Hide and Seek to fake her death (she's one of the red ones here, so she's safe from the others and can simply get out going back from the door they came in).
Feels pretty powerless by the end and if you want we can plot some ways she could lead your character to survive/create problems with the last games and/or meet people outside. In all threads at some point she's destined to have that change, from 'humans are horses' to 'hold on a second'.
she's the female character who would get SO MUCH HATE because 1) she's super-focused on her beauty and fashion and acts more stupid/whiny than she is, a performance to be more popular, super loud about her feelings, super far away from the realities of 'needing money to survive', has 'puts foot in mouth but doesn't even know it' syndrome, although she can and will read the room if it's about her survival and 2) she gets accidentally overpowered in some fandom-appropriate way (super strength and resistance?? unbelievably strong) and that is why she gets to be around your muses: she's either needed or to be kept in check but not evil. So her story is to go from being 100% all about herself and snobby and stereotypically girly and worrying about her hair and nails to... being 80% like that and 20% caring about other people.
Naturally, depending on the fandom, she could be of alien origins, mutated by radiation, or "cursed" by ancient magic that makes her that special, or she ate a Devil Fruit that made her that way, and so on.
She can be anywhere and speak any language (money!) and can be involved in any fandom; there is no special story to tell about her, she was given everything she wanted by her parents and she's the type to take selfies during a natural disaster. Giving her enormous power so that she has to be kept around canon characters who are far more 'present' than she is seems fun enough to me!
obviously if we write in a fandom that doesn't allow for people to have super powers, you can ignore that 'super strong' bit. She'll still be overprivileged and frivolous (again, she partially does it on purpose) but since she's got no super-strength and there are no squid games to give her perspective, we'll need to come up with an excuse as to why your character won't be able to shoot her even when she's annoying and, in fact, stick around. And also, something will happen in her life (fandom-dependent) that will kick-start her change into a person who is more aware of others.
