Wanted interactions: obviously her father (The Ghoul), Lucy, Max, other tvshow characters, and selectively-speaking ocs and main characters from the games that I know and that I think can work with her, seeing as she's a very particular type of person and I only have vague memories of the game-verse besides fallout 4. Cannot interact with her mother because the thread would immediately end with her killing Barb.
Open to ship with: She's demi-biromantic (takes a lot for her to develop a crush, she's too grumpy) but also ace and very sex repulsed to the point that kissing is stretching it. I won't write her forcing herself to sleep with people even if she might be willing.
fc: Angela Bassett in Strange Days (1995)
Triggers: your regular Fallout violence, as well as being gaslit as a child (in a pretty literal 'you are insane' way), told that they had been living in Vault 31 all along before moving to 33, that her father had died and she had had a nervous breakdown over it and had imagined life on the surface with him, plus the fact that Vault 32 and 33 were meant to create perfect "spouses" for 31 and raise their children to be exactly the same. So gaslighting tw and gore tw IF I get extra detailed (it will ALWAYS come up with Janey so you should just block her if you can't think of it), AND, more importantly, 'noncon references tw' if she talks about what she defines as 'forced breeding', as in being expected to marry and have children like everyone else from those Vaults (while being ace, sex repulsed, aware of the experiment and against it).
-Janey was brought to Vault 31 by her father, where she was forcefully separated from him and he was left outside (all Cooper-players can opt out and tell me what they thought that happened to him if they don't want to write this one, I'll focus only on Janey anyway)
-almost 200 years later Barb wakes her, lies to her about what happened (you were born here, your father died a couple of years ago and you couldn't take it, you imagined everything else to cope), other 31s who confirm the story, but Jane refuses to believe it. She's described as a child with a wild fantasy and mental issues to explain why she claims to be pre-war, and why she believes that her dad is a famous actor she clearly only saw on holotapes. They hope Janey will forget growing up and not ruin the experiment.
-Janey pretends to have let go of that past, justifies moments of rage by pretending she's just a spoiled teen, but her mother can tell there is more to it and they both know it. Their relationship has disintegrated, Janey focuses on Barb being responsible for her father's death.
-she grows closer to Rose MacLean (partly to spite her mother, but also because Rose trusts her, and she babysits little Lucy and Norm), and she's fifteen when she joins the woman on her journey to the surface . She's such a small part of the story that Lucy can simply have forgotten that she was there with them.
-Moldaver fills in the blanks about what her mother/Vault Tec really did. As far as Janey is concerned Barb may as well dropped the bombs herself .If it's revealed that Vault Tec didn't do it, the fact that they were going to is good enough, not to mention learning about the Vault experiments and how, unfortunately, later on Vault 4 is the first experience Janey has with other Vaults, she considers anyone willing to go along with that a monster regardless of their reasons.
-Janey is accidentally saved from the Shady Sands bombing by Moldaver, and grows up as a surface dweller, with her own raiders (but she joins Moldaver every now and then), focusing on breaking through Vaults. Shady Sands was 19 years ago, so by the time of our threads she's 34.
-She hates Hank with passion and wants him dead for what he did. She wants to kill her mother. Whether she'd be capable of pulling the trigger or not without hesitating first is up in the air.
-Goes by the name of Coop in her dad's honor. Has a bobblehead always with her because it reminds her of him. Has a tape with one of this movies too but she watched it so many times it stopped working. Some people know her real name, some know there is at least one reward asking for 'Janey Howard, alive'.
-She's one of the people claimed to be dead because of the Great Plague. Barb says she'll go to Vault 32 with the excuse of repopulation, her fate after that is unknown (she likely went back to cryo in 31 with the intention of waking up when it's time to get to the surface and no one who knows her will be alive anymore).
Unfortunately given the way I created her backstory I cannot imagine Janey interacting with Barb or Hank rpers, on account of the fact that she'd try to kill them very fast and spend her time yelling at them if she can't (no forgiveness, ever). Changing her backstory would make her a different character, so I'm stuck.
Her sense of humor would have made her let Lucy go if she had been in the Ghoul's position in Filly.
She has very strong feelings about knowing she was going to be forced to marry and have kids (or, as she'd put it, be forced to breed) and thinks that's the reason she's so repulsed by sex and romantic affection (in reality she was always going to be a sexual repulsed asexual person, she just doesn't know it's even a thing).
She'd recognize her father in two seconds if she heard him talk, but to let threads happen without her finding out right away, it will take longer for her to accept it as a possibility, since it would break her heart to be wrong, or we'll say that the gaslighting did mess with her memories. Lucy would be a soft spot with her attitude, and a girl she feels responsible for on Rose's behalf. She'd share Maximus need for revenge.
Ironically it's her father's memory that let her keep her humanity. Needless to say that her dad is her hero and everything to her even as a Ghoul. She also happens to have a super memory (which she thinks is common for pre-war people) and that's why it was impossible to brainwash her.
She collects dogs everywhere (no dogs in the Vaults!). Runs her gang in kind of a corporate way, the type of person who after shooting someone asks "now, what did he do wrong?" to make sure they all understood. Also, she loves BIG guns and automatic ones. Usually has a minigun with her or other big automatic weapons.
she tends to give a place to "live in" to all kinds of life-forms who want to join her camp if they obey to her. This means some of her raiders are mutants, ghouls and synths. She won't allow certain lines to be crossed (anything sexual, murdering babies) and also won't use her people as cannon fodder and will go back to save them, which means she has one of the biggest camp of followers. She'll still kill as needed and/or cut people's pieces as needed.
most of the time she speaks in a calm tone (think of those stoic characters who never smile and at most can throw out a bit of deadpanned sarcasm) but with a lot of swearing. Until her temper kicks in.
Moldaver is somewhat of a mother figure to her, like Rose, though she's too awkward to deal with such emotions. Her second, Roy, was 10 at the time of Shady Sands and she sorta 'kept him' (he's the perfect thief but sucks at fighting), and the other guy always with her, Pat, is incredibly strong and carries a giant bag with their stuff (son of mutants from Vault 4, also super sweet).
Ship-wise: biromantic and asexual. In her case she's sex-repulsed, she kinda traumatized herself by forcing herself to try - she will do it again,if she has a partner who needs that sort of intimacy, but only to make her partner happy because "that's what people do" (there is hardly any lgbt education in the Wasteland, and the Vault was all about the importance of reproduction while letting people free to 'fool around' before marriage). Though normally with others she'd claim she wants 'none of that sex shit'.
For this reason she tends to prefer to stay single.
Endurance is affected by my headcanon that she just can't get used by the radiation in food/water.
