Nami (One Piece Live Action)

Trigger warnings:  it won't be tagged, but everything that went down with Arlong is obviously abuse.

Canon divergences / my portrayal

As I've written above, this is based on OPLA Nami, which I love with all my heart, but I did start reading the manga and reached the fish-man island arc, so while I'll keep her characterization MOSTLY OPLA-based (example: "fun violence" works better in a manga context, so she won't beat up Luffy, she'll just amicably insult him) I will incorporate headcanons and manga details, including the transition between grumpy and closed-off Nami to more playful manga-Nami, as well as her love for money, friendly extortion, flirting, talking like the crew is 'a bunch of idiots' (lovingly, in her head) and more childish fighting with Luffy than in the live action (which we do see in the second episode too when he's all over her while she's trying to open the safe and she tosses his hat). I will focus a lot on her relationships with the crew and how it's changing her after a life of what is basically slavery to Arlong. 

On the other hand, like I said in the wanted interactions, I have memory problems that will not allow me to remember details (I struggle with names way too much) so most of my threads will have Events happening at an undefined time and location. I will be semi-able to refer to character's backstories and write relationships and emotions, but when it comes to non-straw hats I may need to re-check the wiki to figure out what's going on. 

Instead of 18, if everyone agrees I'll write her at least in her early twenties, since she's played by a 30 years old.. 

I want to explore the consequences of what Arlong put her through, but also have her develop our own personal Nami&YourCharacter dynamic (One Piece is full of heart but it jumps from one adventure and the other, so I think we have space to decide how our characters deal with the aftermath of life changing events and how they might talk to each other). She didn't have a bad childhood, she had a decent childhood while being poor (which can be traumatic in itself) then had a horrible pre-teen situation that kept being horrible until she was freed in her late teens, her whole personality developed around that life. 

-Now to be clear, I am VERY OKAY writing her as a platonic friend to Sanji (and Zoro), I'm not going to forceship! But yes, I am a Sanji/Nami shipper first and foremost, so she'll always be falling for a generic NPC Sanji in threads unless you write a Sanji (because then the default is that she's everybody's friend until I'm given permission to ship) or unless you write OPLA!Zoro and you ship them, because I don't know where threads will lead us and I want to leave the door open. If you headcanon your muse is dating Sanji I'll respect that too! I'm fine with Nami not having romantic love as a primary goal.

Important about her flirting: to my Nami, Luffy is like a little brother so she's not going to flirt with him even as a joke, nor with Usopp as he has never elicited that kind of behavior (unless they are having a bit of platonic fun in our threads) or at least she won't out of nowhere; on the other hand I can see her PLAYFULLY doing it with Sanji and Zoro by default, for opposite reasons: with Sanji because he flirted with her first and I imagine them having a teasing light relationship, with Zoro because I imagine them having a butting-heads teasing sort of way and she hopes to annoy him when she does it. She won't do it with other members of the crew, except Brook who also makes passes at her and is therefore safe to "play" with (even less forceshipping seeing as I don't ship them).
