Scout Strider
Another seemingly fruitless attempt to ape true intelligence. By exercising mastery over a machine even more primitive than themselves, the Scout Strider or "Vagabondo" appears as nothing more than a crude armoured turret attached to an equally crude bipedal platform, driven by that of a trooper-class machine. True to its name, it serves as the primary reconnaissance unit of the Automaton motor pool, speeding ahead and gunning down those brave enough to stand up against their fascist might. Between their heavy armour and even heavier firepower, attacking them head on is pointless, though a design flaw means that its driver is otherwise wholly exposed to gunfire.
Despite being frighteningly fast, they are notoriously sluggish when it actually comes to turning. This, alongside with their exposed cabin, means A skilled Helldiver can dispatch the driver from afar or, if he/she is daring, can attempt to flank it up close. The Ministry of Defense warns however that it is indeed capable of stomping foes up close.
While well armoured, the Cabin and its driver are still vulnerable to explosives, a well placed grenade or explosive-based weapon is sufficient to put down both the machine and its driver
In addition, the Cabin is well armoured, but its legs and drive systems are not, being vulnerable to heavy precision fire, the destruction of a single leg is enough to topple it.
Heavy Strider
It would appear whoever or whatever is leading the Automaton armies has picked up on a few things regarding the performance of the Sentinels and our efforts to defeat them. Currently, only found on especially high-risk operations, the Heavy Strider or "Predone" deemed by survivors, is effectively an upgrade over its predecessor. It now sports a fully armoured cabin, superior targeting systems, and most worryingly, racks containing ballistic missiles mounted across its sides. The Ministry of Defense recommends disposing of these heavy units from afar, or with especially hard hitting weaponry before they are given a chance to return the favour.Â
Much like the Scout Strider, the Aetheon is particularly poor at turning. While one is no longer capable of dispatching the driver, it is still of your best interests to keep away from its now amplified firepower. In addition the Aetheon is incapable of firing its weapons at targets at point blank range.
Their cabin is generally immune to small arms. However accounts from SEAF suvivors seem to suggest that the missiles themselves are not only vulnerable, but quite volatile when hit...
