◂ Killing / NPC’ing a Character ▸
Roleplayers are allowed to “convert” their active characters into NPCs once brought in to remove characters from their active character slots. Depending on the NPC type, it will involve different processes. Please read on below to learn how!
▪ How to make an active character a Living NPC ▪
Character eligibility: Characters cannot be made a living NPC until it has been at least four months past their start date. A character that joins Rise of the Clans January 1st, 2022, would not be eligible for becoming a living NPC until May 1st, 2022. This applies to both living and ghost characters.
Once your character is eligible to become a living NPC, open a ticket in the OOC server to request which character you’d like to convert to an NPC. From there, the moderator team will discuss any plot ramifications and/or scale of impact to the roleplay.
Once the consequences and impact is understood by the roleplayer, the moderator team will approve this request.
You must then make the “NPC your Character” purchase from the OOC discord server’s shop. Please see the official OOC discord server shop category for price and instructions on how to make a purchase. NOTE: Ghost characters require a special purchase separate from “NPC an active character” slot. Please make sure you make the appropriate purchase for the character you wish to NPC.
Once this purchase has been made, update your submitted active character’s application sheet to the official Rise of the Clans NPC application sheet. Submit all of this information to the #rank ups channel located in the official OOC discord server within the server maintenance category, filling out the required form and following the instructions provided pinned in the channel, for review and approval.
Once all the necessary steps outlined above have been taken, your character will be officially recognized as a living NPC, and you will be placed on NPC/Kill cooldown. The moderator team will inform you of when your cooldown will expire.
▪ How to kill off an active character ▪
Character eligibility: Characters cannot be killed off to become a deceased NPC until it has been at least six months past their start date. A character that joins Rise of the Clans January 1st, 2022, would not be eligible for killing off until July 1st, 2022.
Once your character is eligible for killing off, open a ticket with the moderator team to request which character you’d like to kill off. Characters must be killed off either via personal plot, or via groupwide RP events. When this plot will occur, and whether or not it is via a personal plot or via a groupwide RP event, will depend on overall personal plot request volume from all members, current RP schedule, and overall status of the plot groupwide.
All characters must be killed off via a plot: they cannot otherwise randomly just “spontaneously” die. A summary of the plot must be submitted by you, the roleplayer, or must be related to an ongoing groupwide RP event in which death is available. At request, the moderator team can develop a plot for this character, as well. This plot will have impact and consequences on the rest of the roleplay. The moderator team will take time to ensure that character consequences are understood to the roleplayer before proceeding forward with the character’s death.
Once the consequences and impact is understood by the roleplayer, the moderator team will approve this request and will schedule this plot for canonization.
Roleplayers must create some sort of media to go with this plot event: an art piece (minimum halfbody flatcolor), or a written piece of prose/RP with minimum 250 words may be submitted. A requested canonizing RP event may count towards this as well. This will be handed on a case-by-case basis.
Update your submitted active character’s application sheet to their appropriate deceased NPC afterlife application sheet. Submit all of this information to the rank ups channel located in the official OOC discord server, filling out the required form and following the instructions provided pinned in the channel, for review and approval.
Once all the necessary steps outlined above have been taken, your character will be officially recognized as dead in canon as a deceased NPC, and you will be placed on NPC/Kill cooldown. The moderator team will inform you of when your cooldown will expire.
▪ NPC/Kill Cooldown ▪
A general NPC/Kill cooldown goes into place once you have finalized NPC’ing / killing off a character, and the moderator team has approved this request. This means that for the next three IRL months, you may not kill off or NPC another active character. The only exception to this is if the character death occurs during a groupwide roleplay event, in which character death is made available groupwide by the moderator team, and your character is eligible to be killed off. If you kill off an active character during a groupwide RP event while on a general cooldown, you will then be placed on a hard NPC/Kill cooldown.
A hard NPC/Kill cooldown goes into effect after a character death is approved during a groupwide roleplay event in which death is available, and the roleplayer already had a general NPC/Kill cooldown in effect. For the next three IRL months, you may not kill off or NPC another active character in any fashion or manner. Character NPC’ing / death will not be available whatsoever, even during a groupwide roleplay event in which death is available.
These cooldowns once in effect cannot be shortened or ended prematurely, no exceptions.
▪ NPC'ing / Killing Off Multiple Characters in One Instance ▪
At personal request, it is possible to kill off or NPC multiple characters at once. You MUST open a ticket with the moderator team prior and first to request and discuss this. Depending on the overall impact on the RP, frequency of NPC'ing characters prior, and other factors, the moderator team will discuss with you and either approve or deny this request. If this request is denied, you will be provided with the reasoning.
1. You may kill off / NPC up to three characters at once.
2. If you are looking to NPC vs requesting a character death, you must make the purchase for every character you wish to NPC. i.e. if you wish to NPC Applefur and Beechpelt, you must make two "NPC an active character" purchases.
3. You can request both an NPC purchase, and a death plot, in one instance.
4. Your general cooldown will begin once the final characters you have requested for NPC'ing / killing off process is complete.
5. Choosing to NPC or kill off three characters at once will automatically put you on a hard cooldown, regardless of if you are on general cooldown or not.
