Membership Expectations

Members of the team are expected to:

• commit to attending at least 50% of all meetings and activities, including at least one of the two practices held each week (exception: if you are an athlete, talk to the coach to work out a schedule that works!)

• practice good communication and
  email the coach 24 hours or more in advance to have their absence
  officially excused

• observe or compete in at least one competition per semester (PUDL and OSAA)

• compete in at least one form of debate and/or speech event

• write one brief per month to contribute to the team file

• attend classes 90% of the time or
  better and maintain passing grades

To become a competitive or championship-level speaker and debater, students should strive to go above and beyond these expectations. Success requires putting in work both during and after practices to be prepared for a round. More competitions mean more experience, more skill, and more wins in the long run.
