Informative speaking, formerly called 'Expository,' is the most common form of prepared speech event. A student prepares in advance an original speech aiming to inform their audience about a complex topic of high interest. The speech must be under 10 minutes, with the exception of a 30-second grace period. The student researches the topic they have chosen and integrates evidence to support their point of view. The chosen topic must have visual aides which enhance (but do not distract from) the central message of the speech. A successful speech will be well-researched, well-organized, well-rehearsed, and delivered with confidence.
Topics range from health, to education, business, technology, communication, social media, psychology, politics, travel, sports, the environment, and more: https://medium.com/@tutorbin/informative-speech-topics-for-2019-make-a-wise-choice-d6fff860c908
The most successful topics will take a simple idea and find a complex and unique spin to it which has gone unexplored in the past. To the right is a written example:Â
