While many types of debate exist for high school students, the formats Reynolds focuses on for competition are Policy (CX) debate, Parliamentary (Parli) debate, Lincoln-Douglas (LD) debate, Big Questions Debate (BQD), Public Forum debate, and SPontaneous ARgumentation (SPAR). SPAR is typically used during early practices to help newer debaters find a rhythm and confidence in the sport of debate. However, occasionally OSAA tournaments offer SPAR as a competitive event.
