COMPETITIVE Events

Speech & Debate involves preparing for and competing in different events at tournaments. Students are not required to but are highly encouraged to participate in speech AND debate events. Student Congress is a special opportunity offered once per year in the spring which combines speech and debate into one event; any member of the team can nominate themself to take on this event as a learning experience. For multiple years, we have qualified students in Congress to attend the State Championships! Students who involve themselves in debate, impromptu, extemp, and Student Congress tournaments throughout the year build more points and increase their likelihood of qualifying.
